Students for the Promotion of International Law (SPIL), Mumbai announces the Call for Papers for the GLC-SPIL International Law Journal (ILJ), Volume VI, Issue I. SPIL Mumbai is a student run organisation, based out of Government Law College, Mumbai — Asia's oldest law school, established in 1855. SPIL Mumbai strives to facilitate global interactions in international law, and to publicise educational and career opportunities in international law.
The GLC – SPIL International Law Journal (ILJ) is published by the Students for Promotion of International Law (SPIL), Mumbai which is a student body that cynosures International Law. The ILJ is released formally every year at the International Law Summit organised every year by SPIL, Mumbai. Starting from the academic year 2025-26, the Journal will be published in two issues annually. The first issue will welcome submissions on any topic under the broad umbrella of international law, while the second issue will be thematically aligned with the GLC International Law Summit. Theme: Submissions are invited on any topic of contemporary relevance in the area of International Law. Categories and Word Limit: Submissions may be in the form of the following categories - 1. Long Articles: Papers that comprehensively analyse a theme and engage with all the existing literature in it. An article should be in between 6000 and 10000 words, exclusive of footnotes. 2. Short Articles or Essays: Papers that concisely analyse specific contemporary issues in the field of international law. It should be between 4000 and 6000 words, exclusive of footnotes. 3. Case Notes and/or Legislative Commentaries: Notes and commentaries must discuss or critique a recent judgment, landmark case or any recent legislation or bill before Parliament or State legislature. It should be between 2000 and 3000 words, exclusive of footnotes. 4. Treaty and Instrument Analyses: Contemporary examination of international treaties, conventions, and customary international law instruments, including drafting history and interpretative concerns. It should be between 2000 to 3000 words. 5. Book Reviews: Analytical reviews of recent publications relevant to international law, including recent academic texts, commentaries, and practitioner handbooks.
