Call For Papers

Is it still possible for a city to be more Scandinavian, French, or Spanish? Can it be more Montrealesque? Londonian? Parisian? This international symposium, Taking ownership of the city: “Becoming together” from urban heritage to cultural landscape, is an invitation to talk about how urban planning instruments, heritagization tools and other means might help us to go beyond the image makers and consider how to design for “living together” and “becoming together” in an environment sufficiently inclusive and representative to allow today’s and tomorrow’s citizens to appropriate it and make it their own. It is, in other words, an opportunity to collectively consider this “becoming together” and the future of the genius loci.

Researchers, practitionners and decision-makers are invited to submit a paper proposal before October 20th 2011 to: colloqueville@uqam.ca.

Travel and accommodations fees in Montreal can be covered by the symposium organization. A detailed presentation of the event is enclosed.
