Wireless networks are nowadays widely deployed, due to their advantages such as convenient installation, flexible utilisation, and higher extensibility, and wireless communication technologies have become increasingly popular in our everyday life. They can support information management and wireless communication and computing in various public places such as hospitals, universities, and airports. With wireless communication, handheld devices like smartphones enable users to access calendars, mail, contacts, and the internet in a convenient way. However, with the rapid development of Internet of Things (IoT), a large number of IoT devices can be connected with each other via a wireless network. This makes current wireless networks more complex and ubiquitous, bringing new security threats and challenges.

Motivated by the success of its use in cryptocurrency, blockchain technology has been studied in wireless networks, allowing unknown individuals to interact with each other in a verifiable manner. For example, blockchain can be used for secure data sharing in a wireless body area network. The use of blockchain provides various merits such as transparency, data integrity, and enhanced security, and is now used commercially for various applications such as tracking ownership documents, digital assets, or voting rights. As blockchain has its own limitations, the development of suitable blockchain-based wireless networks against security threats remains a challenge.

This Special Issue aims to focus on the combination of blockchain and wireless communication and provide a platform for researchers from academia and industry to discuss the security threats and solutions for a blockchain-based wireless network, including blockchain applications for wireless computing. We welcome both original research and review articles.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

Adversarial modelling in wireless communications
Blockchain in wireless vulnerability assessment and testing
Blockchain in intrusion detection for wireless networks
Blockchain application management in wireless networks
Secure routing and access control with blockchain
Mobile device management with blockchain techniques
