Call For Papers

Lehigh Valley Vanguard (www.lehighvalleyvanguard.org) is seeking submissions of critical prose which showcase community-oriented and/or activist work that provides social commentary on diverse dimensions of human suffering, such as: poverty, marginalization, racism, and political, structural, and gender-based violence. Those accepted will be published in our open-access online journal.
Submissions may take a variety of approaches to this topic: historical, polemical, examination of literary works, book reviews.
We would appreciate submissions from a variety of scholars: radical academics, independent researchers, community activists, philosophers, and students. We invite those engaged in intellectual work within existing institutions, such as colleges and universities, but also those engaged in the production of knowledge beyond establishment walls to share their ongoing work.
We are particularly interested in including marginalized voices and perspectives and encourage the breaking down of barriers between disciplines as well as between the academic and non-academic or even anti-academic.
Submissions may be sent in MS Office, Open Office, or GoogleDocs. Generally, the submissions should be 12pt. Times New Roman and 500-2,500 words. Send work to: lehighvalleyvanguard@gmail.com

About Lehigh Valley Vanguard
Established in March 2014, the Vanguard is a visual and literary symposium of intellectuals and artists. From the start, we have sought to open a dialogue of radical thought. We are locally grown, nationally and internationally read. We organize within our community by facilitating a biweekly web series, conferences, art and poetry showcases, and other community events.
The Vanguard examines a myriad of issues not acknowledged by mainstream media: locally and globally. Our mission, most essentially, is to subvert the dominant paradigm and question authority. Our hope is to build a critical culture and to #occupyeverything. We do this through publishing thought-provoking material, but also cultivating grassroots activism and engagement in the community.
