The 2nd International Congress on Numanities (ICoN) will be organized by the International Semiotics Institute ISI and held in Kaunas, Lithuania, from the 25th to the 29th of May, 2015.

The congress theme is “Creativity, Diversity, Development”. Humanities have undergone a complex process of transition in research, everyday practices, policies, and educational approaches. The main goal of the congress is to activate a discussion on the problems and opportunities currently faced by the various areas of humanities (arts, linguistics, philosophy, etc.), also in their intersection with other fields of inquiry.

With the theme of this year, we intend to focus on those particular processes where the notion of creativity emerges in its various forms (artistic expression, social necessity, strategy of survival, scientific methodology, etc.), and particularly allows social and cultural development within contexts of diversity, minority, otherness, outsideness and originality.

Although the main methodological interface is located within the area of semiotic, communication and cultural studies, ICoN aims to establish a genuinely interdisciplinary platform for scholars and students (in the spirits of Numanities themselves), therefore submissions are welcome from all disciplines.
