The Edwin Mellen Press

Call for Monographs in Sociology

For over thirty years the Edwin Mellen Press has published scholarship that perseveres. Our titles are intended to be research tools for doctoral and post-doctoral studies. Our sole criterion for publication is that each book must make a contribution to scholarship. Mellen titles have even won prizes over Oxford and Harvard. The Press is currently seeking Short Monographs (20,000-60,000 words), Full-Length Monographs, and Multi-Volume Works in the following Sociological fields.

Sample topics include, but are not limited to:
Race, Gender, Class
Conflict Theories
World Systems Theory
Sexuality
Gender Studies, Feminism, Masculinity
Queer Theory (LGBTQ research)
Social and Cultural Constructivism
Post-Colonial Theory / De-Colonial Theory / Coloniality of Power
Social and Cultural History
Ethnographical Studies
Immigration Studies (cross-cultural interpersonal relations)
Criminology and Penology
Sports, Leisure, and Recreation
Social Theory (Durkheim, Weber, Marx, etc.)
Critical Theory (Foucault, Frankfurt School, Marxism, Critical Race, etc.)
Psychoanalysis of Society and Culture
Sociology of Mental Illness
Poverty Studies / Working Class Studies
Sociology of Politics, Nationalism
Urban Studies
Globalization, Cultural Diffusion, Homogenization / Cultural Hybridity
Identity Politics
Sociology of Religion
Slavery (historical and contemporary analysis of human trafficking)
Oppression and Liberation Studies
Micro-Mezzo-Macro Social Analysis
Folklore and Community Narratives

Publication is contingent on passing through two blind peer reviews. The author must also find two scholars who provide sponsoring reviews and a senior scholar to write the foreword. We never take subsidies from authors. All books are sold to archival libraries.

For all inquiries, or to submit an abstract please email our Acquisitions Editor:
Dr. Bradley Kaye - bkaye@mellenpress.com, or bradleykaye2@gmail.com
Submissions are accepted in an ongoing basis. The deadline is open ended and we urge you to send in proposals at any time, not right before the listed deadline.
