ISCA - WTAI: Workshop on Technology Architecture Interaction: Emerging Technologies and Their Impact on Computer Architecture --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IEEE/ACM International Symposium on Computer Architecture ISCA 2010 Saint-Malo, France http://isca2010.inria.fr/ 9:00 AM-6:00 PM, June 19, 2010 Silicon technology presents a number of unique leverages and challenges for modern processor architectures. While challenges such as reliability, power and temperature issues have started shaping existing micro-architectures; emerging technologies, such as three-dimensional integration, emerging non-volatile memory technologies (such as PCM and MRAM),as well as optical interconnects provide new leverages for performance improvement as the scaling continues. To efficiently exploit the benefits, design techniques and methodologies are imperative. Design space exploration at the architectural level is also essential to fully take advantage of the benefits in order to build high performance computer architectures. The goal of this workshop is to provide a forum to discuss novel architectures/techniques enabled by emerging technologies, as well as focusing on these technologies from an "architects toolbox" point of view. Please join us for an in-depth look at novel micro-architectures enabled by the availability of emerging technologies. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Organizers: - Norm Jouppi (HP Labs) - Yuan Xie (Penn State University) - Eren Kursun (IBM Research) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- List of Authors/ Tentative Agenda: 8:30-9:00/Breakfast and Registration Session 1: Nano-Scale Microarchitectures 9:00-9:40\Reliability Challenges in Next Generation Microarchitectures Xavier Vera, Intel 9:40-10:20\Architectural Techniques for Technology-awareness David Brooks, Harvard University 10:00-10:30\Coffee Break and Networking Session 2: NVM Technologies-Architecture Interaction 10:40-11:20 Phase Change Memory and Trends (tba) 10:40-11:20/Non-Volatile Memory Technologies: An Overview Roberto Bez, Ugo Russo, Andrea Redaelli - Numonyx 12:30-2:00/Lunch Session 3: 3D Microarchitectures 2:00-2:40/Technology Trends: 3D Basics Pol Marchal, M.
