Joint 8th International Workshop on Software Engineering for Systems-of-Systems and
14th Workshop on Distributed Software Development, Software Ecosystems and Systems-of-Systems (SESoS/WDES 2020) In conjunction with the 2020 IEEE International Conference on Software Architecture (ICSA 2020) - http://icsa-conferences.org/2020 March 17, 2020 | Salvador, Bahia, Brazil http://sesos-wdes-2020.icmc.usp.br/ IMPORTANT DATES - Abstract submission: January 17, 2020 - Paper submission: January 17, 2020 - Author notification: February 3, 2020 - Camera-ready submission: February 10, 2020 (firm) SCOPE Systems-of-systems (SoS) have become increasingly complex and frequently used in highly distributed, dynamic, and open environments. SoS refer to evolving software systems in which constituent systems (themselves systems in their own right) cooperatively work to fulfill specific, complex missions, facing Software Architecture researchers and practitioners with substantial challenges. Software ecosystems (SECO) have also become an important research topic, addressing social issues along with technical aspects of software architectures. SoS and SECO are closely related and naturally distributed in development teams along with the inherent difficulties of coordination and communication. In this scenario, Distributed Software Development (DSD) deals with distributed resources to reduce cost and reach new Information Technology markets. Problems and challenges in software architectures are amplified and become more critical when SoS, SECO, and DSD need to be analyzed together. The Joint 8th International Workshop on Software Engineering for Systems-of-Systems and the 14th Workshop on Distributed Software Development, Software Ecosystems and Systems-of-Systems (SESoS/WDES 2020) will provide researchers and practitioners with a forum to exchange ideas and experiences, analyze research and development issues, discuss promising solutions, and propose theoretical foundations for development and evolution of complex systems, inspiring visions for the future of Software Architecture for SoS, SECO, and DSD, as well as paving the way for a more structured community effort. TOPICS OF INTEREST SESoS/WDES 2020 will focus on the following (and related) themes: System-of-Systems (SoS) - SoS analysis and architecture - SoS model-based engineering - SoS construction and evolution - SoS experience from industrial perspectives and successful case studies - General issues, including SoS characterization, quality, development processes, and project management - Challenges and directions for SoS architecture Software Ecosystems (SECO) - SECO platform development - Ecosystem architecture - Ecosystem governance - Modelling and analysis, business, and social aspects of SECO - Open-source/mobile SECO - Business models and collaboration - Empirical studies - Challenges and directions for SECO architecture Distributed Software Development (DSD) - DSD processes and methods - Cloud Computing and crowdsourcing - Communication and coordination - Agile development - Business models - Project management - Social and human aspects - Social network analysis and mining - Software evolution and maintenance - Open-source - Security and privacy - Challenges and directions for DSD architecture Transversal topics to SoS, SECO, and DSD - Strategies, relationships, and applications of SoS, SECO, and DSD - Technical, economical, and social issues associated to Software Architecture - Reuse-based development - Knowledge management - Decision-making processes - Diversity management - Sustainability in software systems - Case studies, experiments, industrial experience, systematic literature reviews, and systematic mapping studies PAPER SUBMISSION AND PUBLICATION All submitted papers should describe original work and not be published or under review anywhere. The papers must be written in English and will be judged by at least three reviewers on the basis of their clarity, relevance, originality, and contribution. SESoS/WDES 2020 seeks two kinds of paper submissions: - Regular research papers (at most 8 pages) describing original, substantial contributions in research and/or practice - Position papers and experience reports (at most 4 pages) describing emerging results, lessons learned, and open problems from concrete applications, or novel ideas and perspectives on research The page limits include abstract, all figures, tables, and references. All papers should follow the IEEE Manuscript Template for Conference Proceedings (https://www.ieee.org/conferences/publishing/templates.html) for formatting and be submitted in PDF format via the EasyChair submission system: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=sesoswdes2020. Authors of accepted papers will be asked to fill an electronic IEEE Copyright Form and they will receive further instructions for preparing their camera-ready versions. All accepted papers will be published in the workshop electronic proceedings in the IEEEXplore digital library upon the mandatory registration and presentation of at least one author of each accepted paper at the workshop. WORKSHOP CO-CHAIRS - Everton Cavalcante (Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil) - Flavio Oquendo (IRISA-UMR CNRS/Université Bretagne Sud, France) - Jo Ann Lane (San Diego State University, USA) FURTHER INFORMATION Any inquiries or further information can be found at http://sesos-wdes-2020.icmc.usp.br/ or via e-mail to everton@dimap.ufrn.br. |
