******* FINAL DEADLINE EXTENSION**********************************************
Smart Grid (SG), also called intelligent grid is a modern improvement of the existing traditional power grid that will revolutionize the way electricity is produced, delivered and consumed. SG is a network that consists of many systems and subsystems built on an advanced cluster of distributed generation units, renewable energies, energy storage, equipment, and circuits for generating, transmitting, transforming, and distributing energy. Smart grid concepts include a wide range of technologies and applications such as advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), Distribution management system (DMS), Geographic information system (GIS), intelligent electronics devices (IEDs), Wide-area measurement systems (WAMS) and Energy management systems (EMSs). It is designed to provide cost-effective, reliable and efficient supply system, and to create a real-time bidirectional communication means and information exchange between the consumer and the grid operator of electric power. This handbook aims at presenting the research activities and trends in the topic of smart grids. All aspects of smart grids are considered in this handbook. Focus is mainly put onto the smart grid main components, its operation, and control and optimization aspects. The key findings and research trends are presented altogether to widen the scope of the handbook and make it easy for researchers to grasp the topic with its widest horizon. Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit by October 19, 2019, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors will be notified on October 25, 2019 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines. Full chapters are expected to be submitted by February 16, 2020, and all interested authors must consult the guidelines for manuscript submissions at http://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/before-you-write/ prior to submission. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project. Note: There are no submission or acceptance fees for manuscripts submitted to this book publication, Handbook of research on smart grid operation and control. All manuscripts are accepted based on a double-blind peer review editorial process. All proposals should be submitted through the eEditorial Discovery®TM online submission manager.
