Call For Papers

Over the past few years the crowdsourcing paradigm has evolved from its humble beginnings as isolated purpose-built initiatives, such as Wikipedia and Elance and Mechanical Turk to a growth industry employing over 2 million knowledge workers, contributing over half a billion dollars to the digital economy. Web 2.0 provides the technological foundations upon which the crowdsourcing paradigm evolves and operates, enabling networked experts to work collaboratively to complete a specific task. Enterprise crowdsourcing poses interesting challenges for both academic and industrial research along the social, legal, and technological dimensions.

In this workshop we would like to challenge researchers and practitioners to think about various aspects of enterprise crowdsourcing. First, to establish technological foundations, what are the interaction models and protocols between the Enterprise and the crowd. Secondly, how is crowdsourcing going to face the challenges in quality assurance, enabling Enterprises to optimally leverage the scalable workforce. Thirdly, what are the novel (Web) applications enabled by Enterprise crowdsourcing.

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES:

1. Identify emerging topics and challenges within the enterprise crowdsourcing paradigm and provide a forum for further exploration and advancement in the enterprise domain
2. Discuss requirements arising from deploying Web architectures to source business tasks through the social networks (e.g. potentially resulting in Web standards for collaborative applications).
3. Understand the business model opportunity, and identify how existing business processes can most efficiently adopt the crowdsourcing model.

SUBMISSIONS:

Our goal is to bring together researchers and practitioners to facilitate stimulating discussions on the different aspects of crowdsourcing. We are encouraging contributions of short vision papers or practical experiences (4 Pages) and full papers (max 12 pages) with high quality research contributions and experimental results. All papers should follow LNCS guidelines.

Papers must be submitted, by April 21, 2010, 23:59 Hawaii Time, using in PDF format, using the EasyChair website at: http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ecrowdsourcing2010

Specifically, we are suggesting the following topics as guidelines for submissions:

Foundations of Enterprise Crowdsourcing

* Interaction models and protocols between the crowdsourcing Enterprise and the crowd
* Incentive schemes for crowdsourcing participants
* Define a framework for expressing the crowdsourcing policy/guidelines for enterprises?
* How are compliance, taxation and labor laws addressed as the crowdsourcing is being adopted?
* How can a business task be represented as a Web-enabled crowdsourcing service?
* What are the key components of the crowdsourcing service?

Quality Assurance in Enterprise Crowdsourcing

* Methods, tools and metrics for quality assurance in crowdsourcing
* What mechanisms can enterprises use to validate claimed skills and knowledge of the sourcing crowd?
* How to deploy an enterprise incentive mechanism to encourage experts to participate and submit high quality contributions (and how does it impact the labor/HR policies)?
* How does an expert's reputation get established through interaction with crowdsourcing services?

Applications of Enterprise Crowdsourcing

* Crowd-sourced collaborative design of Web applications
* Collaborative decision-making through wisdom-of–the-crowds methods and prediction markets

IMPORTANT DATES

* Workshop papers submission deadline: April 21, 2010 (23:59 Hawaii Time)
* Notification of authors: May 21, 2010 (23:59 Hawaii Time)
* Camera-ready submission: June 7, 2010 (23:59 Hawaii Time)
