Call for Papers
Despite the increase in popularity of social networking sites and related digital media, there is limited data and studies on consumption patterns of the new media by different global communities. Nevertheless, social media have revolutionized how individuals, communities and organizations create, share and consume information. Similarly, Social Media offers numerous opportunities as well as enormous social and economic ills for individuals, communities and organizations. This has resulted to the emergence of new dimensions on social media research across the world. Social Media include SMS-based Messaging platforms (e.g., WhatsApp, FB Messenger, WeChat), Blogging platforms ( e.g. WordPress, Blogger), Social networking sites (e.g., Facebook, LinkedIn, Xing), Microblogs (e.g., Twitter), Visual platforms (e.g. Instagram, Snapchat, Flickr), Video-based platforms (e.g. You Tube, Dailymotion), Wiki-based knowledge sharing sites (e.g., Wikipedia), Social news aggregation sites (e.g. Buzzfeed), Social Bookmarking sites (e.g. Reddit, del.icio.us, Digg) and websites by traditional news organizations comments quora, Forums, mailing lists, newsgroups, Community media sites, Social question and answer sites, Social curation sites (e.g. Pinterest), and Location-based social networks. All submissions will be subject to the Journal of Language, Technology & Entrepreneurship in Africa double-blind peer-review process, and be submitted electronically through the conference submission system https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=issm2019 by 30th June 2019. TYPES OF CONTRIBUTIONS • Full Papers – These include mainly accomplished research results and have 8 pages at the maximum (5,000 words). • Short Papers – These are mostly composed of work in progress reports or fresh developments and have 4 pages at maximum (2,500 words). • Posters / Demonstrations – These have one page at the maximum (625 words) besides the poster itself (or demonstration) that will be exposed at the conference. • Invited Talks – These will be made of contributions from well-known scholars and company representatives. An abstract will be included in the conference proceedings. • Doctoral Consortium – Doctoral Consortium Contributions should have a maximum 2,500 words (4 pages). • Exhibitions – Companies will have an opportunity to display their latest offerings of services through an exhibition tent. Students may attend free of charge. The conference fees cover meals and conference materials.
