Call For Papers

**April 14th, 2010: EXTENDED paper submission deadline**

HotMetrics 2010
The 3rd Workshop on Hot Topics in Measurement & Modeling of Computer Systems
http://www.cs.caltech.edu/hotmetrics/

Collocated and held in conjunction with Sigmetrics 2010
June 18, 2010
Columbia University, New York, NY

HotMetrics aims to bring together researchers in the SIGMETRICS and
related communities to discuss emerging challenges in performance
evaluation. The goal is to promote community-wide discussion
identifying "important" and "hard" problems, to foster research
collaborations within the field, and to engage the community in
collectively advancing research frontiers. HotMetrics is expected to
serve both as a forum for presenting new ideas and for fostering
collaborations between researchers.

We seek submissions of position papers that introduce hard research
problems, propose new directions of research, advocate non-traditional
approaches to old or new domains, or generate debate and discussion
about issues in the field. Topics of interest include, but are not
limited to:
-- Performance-related issues in the design and development of emerging computer
systems and networks.
-- Tradeoffs and dependencies between performance and other metrics such as
cost, energy consumption, reliability, availability, consistency, and security.
-- Methodologies and frameworks for performance modeling, analysis, or
optimization
-- Practical issues arising in system management and performance engineering.

Submission Guidelines

Papers must not exceed 5 double column pages (including figures,
tables, and references) in the standard ACM format (see
http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-templates). Papers
must be submitted electronically in printable pdf form; for detailed
submission instructions refer to http://www.cs.caltech.edu/hotmetrics

The selected papers and their reviews will be published on-line before
the workshop. After the workshop, the revised papers and reviews -- together
with additional commentaries summarizing the workshop discussion -- will
be published in the December 2010 issue of SIGMETRICS's Performance
Evaluation Review to provide wide distribution to the community.
