EMERGING GREEN AND SMART TECHNOLOGIES FOR SMART CITIES

CRC Press , Taylor & Francis Group

Title of the Book : Emerging Green and Smart Technologies for Smart Cities

Introduction and Objectives of the Book
In view of the enormous social and environmental changes at the global level, more and more cities worldwide have directed their development strategies towards smart policies aimed at sustainable mobility, energy upgrading of the building stock, increase of energy production from renewable sources, improvement of waste management and implementation of ICT infrastructures. With an increased urbanization and energy consumption one of the main responsibilities of a smart city is to focus on low energy use, renewable energy and small carbon footprints.

For the sustainable and safe smart cities, energy efficiency is the burning issue nowadays, researchers are highly involved in this area. This is due to the fact that energy demand is exponentially growing whereas, energy resources are depleting day by day. This requires optimal use of energy resources. In order to find the optimal use of these resources researchers need to explore optimization techniques. This book will be a source of motivation to the researcher/authors and an opportunity to exchange knowledge of energy efficiency and the optimization tools for development of green technologies for smart cities. The term "green technology" is composed of two terms as technology and green technology itself. The technology refers to the application of knowledge for practical purposes whereas the term "green technology" refers to the application of the group of methods and materials from various techniques involving artificial intelligence for generating and preserving energy for the sustainable environment in smart cities. Green technology isn't a magic potion, though. It instead consists of the methods, materials and techniques used for everything from generating energy to manufacturing nontoxic products.

After an overview of the role of cities in climate changes and environmental pollution worldwide, the book will provide an up to date definition of Smart City and of its main expected features focusing on green technology innovation. This book will explore the energy management strategies so as to minimize the need for huge investments in high-capacity transmission lines from distant power plants. A new range of renewable energy technologies modified for installation in cities like small wind turbines, micro-CHP and heat pumps will be described in this book.

The objective of this book to explore all the green communication technologies, green computing technologies, green smart buildings, green smart lighting, green smart mobility management, fuel efficient transportation, paperless offices, energy efficiency measures, waste recycling etc for designing green smart cities. It will act as a broad reference book for the identification of development sustainable plans and programs at the urban level within the current legislative framework.

Topics of Interest
This book will cover the following chapters. Authors are requested to provide chapter proposals on the below chapter titles only. The real life examples, research work, design novelty related to the chapter titles will be encouraged. Besides that this book aims to provide some short case studies of smart cities from different parts of the world exploring difference in the approach such as extensive use of ICT to make city services smart, huge capital investments to build new infrastructure or entire cities, policy level initiatives to build smarter communities, and more. So the submission of case studies in this regard is also appreciable.

The titles of the book chapters are:
 Smart cities
 Energy Efficient Green Technologies
 Green Smart Building
 Green Smart Transport System
 Green Smart Agriculture
 Green Smart Waste Management
 Green Smart Education System
 Green Smart Security System
 Green Smart Water And Sanitation
 Green Smart Town Planning
 Green Smart E-Health
 Green Smart Environment
 Green Smart Energy management
 Case Studies

Submission Procedure
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit their chapter proposals. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project. Proposals, chapters and inquiries should be submitted to Dr. Pradeep Tomar and Dr Gurjit Kaur on submissions.pub@gmail.com. There is no template for the proposals. However, they should clearly describe the topic of the chapter, and list the tentative titles. The book chapter proposal should be of 2-3 pages clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter.
