CERI 2018 : 5th Spanish Conference in Information Retrieval
Call For Papers
The Spanish Conference on Information Retrieval stems from the realization that a relevant research and business activity in the field has taken shape in Spain in the last few years, as is attested by the significant presence of Spanish researchers in the main scientific fora, and a raising corporate activity in the field. The Fifth Spanish Conference on Information Retrieval will be held at the Aragon Institute of Engineering Research of the University of Zaragoza, Spain, from 25th to 27th of June 2018.
The conference aims to be a meeting forum for researchers, practitioners, and teaching professionals with an interest for the Information Retrieval field, where an overview of the activity in the Information Retrieval community can be obtained, seeking to provide a get-together for discussion and progress of future initiatives towards the promotion of IR, especially in Spain.
In CERI 2018, submissions are divided into two categories: long and short papers.
* Long papers, submitted in PDF and written in English, must not exceed 8 pages following the ACM SIG Proceedings Format and they will be presented at the scientific sessions of the conference.
* Short papers (posters) must not exceed 4 pages in the same format and will be exhibited and presented in a special poster session
* Extended abstracts containing descriptions of ongoing projects or summarizing already published relevant results. These contributions must not exceed 4 pages in the same format and will be exhibited and presented in a special session.
CERI especially encourages PhD students and researchers in the early stage of their careers to submit their works. Also, contributions from industry will be considered. Papers will be submitted as PDF files through the EasyChair online submission system. At least one author of each accepted work must register to the conference, by the date indicated by the organizers, and present the paper. Besides, all papers must be submitted in anonymized form. Thus, author names and organization, references, acknowledgements, and any other information that might allow to identify the authors should be removed from the initial submissions. Papers already published, accepted or under review in any other conference or journal will not be accepted. We also expect that authors will not submit their works to any other event during the reviewing period of CERI 2018. Regarding plagiarism considerations, the ACM Plagiarism Policy will be applied.
All scientists interested in IR related fields are welcome to participate. We encourage national and international researchers from both academia and industry to submit original papers, written either in Spanish or English, related to any aspect of IR including, but not limited to the following:
Performance, scalability, architectures and efficiency
Data structures on IR
IR Quality Evaluation
User aspects: interaction, user studies and interfaces
Filtering and recommendation systems
Structured retrieval (XML, etc.)
IR in social networks
Vandalism detection (in the Web or Wikipedia) and opinion spam
Detection of pedophilia, stalking and bullying
Text mining (e.g., classification and clustering of documents)
Natural Language Processing in IR
Passage Retrieval and Question Answering
Multilingual and cross-language IR
IR in specific domains (biomedical, patents, law, etc.)
All accepted works will be published in the proceedings of the conference.
