The 1st International Workshop on Fog Computing in Internet of Things and Ubiquitous Systems Engineering (FiUSE 2018) will be held at Tallinn, Estonia, 11-15 June 2018, in conjunction with The 30th International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering (CAiSE’2018).
We sincerely invite to participate in our workshop. Workshop website: https://fiuse2018.cs.ut.ee -------------------------------------------------------------------------- IMPORTANT DATES -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Paper submission deadline : 4 Match 2018 Notification of acceptance : 6 April 2018 Camera-ready submission dealine : 13 April 2018 Workshop Date : 11/12 June 2018 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- SCOPE AND OVERVIEW -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It is envisioned that the Internet of Things (IoT) will allow people and things to be connected anytime, anyplace using any path/network and any service. The vision leads IoT information systems to be ubiquitous accessible. However, the common cloud-centric IoT information systems face challenges in their quality of service (QoS) to support ubiquitous applications. Emerging fog computing architecture moves the IoT information system from the centralised model to the distributed model in which information processes are disseminated to different levels of edge networks in IoT systems. This paradigm improves the agility of information processes of IoT and brings the resources closer to the data sources and end-users. Fog-driven IoT, enhances ubiquitous IoT information system in terms of performance improvement and increasing the quality of experience. However, while applying fog computing in IoT, many engineering challenges have arisen. The First International Workshop on Fog Computing in Internet of Things and Ubiquitous Systems Engineering (FiUSE 2018), co-located with the 30th International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering (CAiSE’2018), aims to establish a forum for the researchers and participants of fog computing, for discussing the state-of-the-art in fog-driven ubiquitous IoT system engineering, novel solutions and applications. Suggested topics are listed below but are not limited to: ------------------------------------------------- System Management ------------------------------------------------- - Fog architectures - Fog server placement and migration - Resource management and scheduling - Multi-layered fog computing - Containerised fog for IoT - Process assignment and migration - Middleware - Mobility - Stream data processing - Networking - Data flow management and visualization - Security, privacy and trust - Quality of service and quality of experience - Edge analytics frameworks ------------------------------------------------- Applications ------------------------------------------------- - Industrial Internet of Things - Logistics - Healthcare, eldercare and ambient assisted living - Smart cities - Energy-efficient information systems - Smart homes and workplaces - Mobile and ubiquitous applications - Proximity-based gaming - Social network - Social Internet of Things - Internet of Vehicles - Fog-assistant Delay-Tolerant Network (DTN) - Mobile/wireless mesh network -------------------------------------------------------------------------- SUBMISSION AND PUBLICATIONS -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Papers should be submitted in PDF format. The results described must be unpublished and must not be under review elsewhere. Submissions must conform to Springer’s LNCS format and should not exceed 12 pages, including all text, figures, references and appendices. Submissions not conforming to the LNCS format, exceeding 12 pages, or being obviously out of the scope of the workshop, will be rejected without review. A small number of short papers (not exceeding 6 pages) will also be accepted based on their novelty, quality and relevance to the workshop. Information about the Springer LNCS format can be found at http://www.springer.com/comp/lncs/authors.html. Three to five keywords characterizing the paper should be listed at the end of the abstract. ------------------------------------------------- Submission Types ------------------------------------------------- - Technical research—is general theoretical research in the fog computing and IoT domains with clear problem statement, solution, evaluation and discussion of the findings. - Experience—The focus is at discussing problems, practical challenges encountered and lessons learned in different fog-driven IoT applications. - Novel ideas—includes surveys, new designs, new concepts in business, architectures, topologies, and various new ideas in fog-driven IoT. ------------------------------------------------- Submission Website ------------------------------------------------- Please submit manuscript to EasyChair (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=fiuse2018). ------------------------------------------------- Publication ------------------------------------------------- Accepted papers will be published in Springer Lecture Notes in Business Information Processing (http://www.springer.com/series/7911). -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ORGANIZING COMMITTEE -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Program Chairs ------------------------------------------------- Satish Narayana Srirama, University of Tartu, Estonia Rajkumar Buyya, University of Melbourne, Australia Schahram Dustdar, TU Wien, Austria ------------------------------------------------- Publicity Chair ------------------------------------------------- Chii Chang, University of Tartu, Estonia ------------------------------------------------- Program Committee Members ------------------------------------------------- Ashiq Anjum, University of Derby, UK Rajni Aron, Thapar university, India Marcos Assuncao, Inria, LIP, ENS Lyon, France Umesh Bellur, IIT Bombay, India Shih-Hao Chang, Tamkang University, Taiwan Priyanka Chawla, Thapar University, India Debashis De, West Bengal University of Technology, India Hai Dong, RMIT University, Australia Schahram Dustdar, TU Wien, Austria Khalid Elgazzar, Carnegie Mellon University, USA Patricia Endo, University of Pernambuco, Brazil Niroshinie Fernando, Deakin University, Australia Harshit Gupta, Georgia Institute of Technology, USA Bahman Javadi, Western Sydney University, Australia Attila Kertesz, University of Szeged, Hungary Jenq-Shiou Leu, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Taiwan Seng Loke, Deakin University, Australia Richard Lomotey, University of Saskatchewan, Canada Zoltan Mann, University Duisburg-Essen, Germany Nguyen, Gia Tuan, University of Turku, Finland Claus Pahl, Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy Amir Masoud Rahmani, Islamic Azad University, Iran Mohammad Saad Alam, Aligarh Muslim University, India Stefan Schulte, Vienna University of Technology, Austria Luis Vaquero, University of Bristol, UK Blesson Varghese, Queen's University Belfast, UK Isaac Woungang, Ryerson University, Canada ------------------------------------------------- For further enquiry, please contact: Chii Chang (chang@ut.ee) or Satish Narayana Srirama (srirama@ut.ee) |
