The policies of culture and memory in Israel
22nd – 23rd May 2018 Call for papers It is our pleasure to invite scholars and researchers in the humanities and social sciences to contribute with papers for the 6th International Conference organized by our Center for Israeli Studies (CSIs - SNSPA), ”The policies of culture and memory in Israel”, which is going to take place in Bucharest in May 2018. The Center for Israeli Studies (CSIs) at the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration (SNSPA) aims to advance the knowledge of and to provide rigorous academic perspectives on issues pertaining to the Israeli government, politics and society. CSI was created in order to provide more nuanced analyses and an academic perspective, alternative to journalistic approaches. One of the primary goals of CSIs is training young professionals (future diplomats and political analysts) with a solid expertise concerning the Israeli reality. Topics We are interested in Israeli’s cultural identity built throughout its 70 years of existence. Cultural policies and those connected with the historical memory are elements of interest given Israel’s efforts in forming a unitary nation by integrating various forms of civilization, phenomenon referred to as ‘a melting pot’. Important Dates Deadline for submission: 15th of January 2018. Notification of acceptance: 31st of January 2018 Note. Submission of the papers in due time is critical for the success of the program. Abstracts The abstracts (max. 500 words followed by 3-5 keywords) will be submitted for review in MS Word format (.doc, .docx) via e-mail. Please use the provided abstract template. Also, please mention whether you are submitting the abstract for one of the three special panels. Only one paper for each participant (as a first author) will be accepted.
