Archiving 2018 is a blend of short courses, invited focal papers, keynote talks, and peer-reviewed oral and interactive display presentations, offering attendees a unique opportunity for gaining and exchanging knowledge and building networks among professionals.

INTENDED AUDIENCE:
imaging experts and technicians as well as curators, managers, and researchers from libraries, archives, museums, records management repositories, information technology institutions, and commercial enterprises.

PROGRAM TOPICS:
*Digitization of 2D, 3D, and AV materials
New developments in digitization technologies and workflows
Advanced imaging techniques and image processing, e.g. multispectral imaging, 3D imaging
Large-scale/mass digitization and workflow management systems
Quality assurance and control of digitization workflow, e.g., targets, software, automation, integration
Integration of linked open data (LOD)

*Preservation / Archiving of 2D, 3D, and AV materials
Formats and systems for preservation of digitized materials
Management of metadata
Standards and guidelines
Archival models

*Access to 2D, 3D, and AV materials
Dissemination and use of digitized materials, e.g. rights management, crowdsourcing, data mining
Policies, strategies, plans, and risk management
Business and cost models
Formats for preservation and access
Deep learning algorithms to improve search results
Open access and open data strategies

Authors have the option to submit either a traditional conference paper, published in the proceedings or a paper that first appears in the Journal of Imaging Science and Technology (JIST) and then as a reprint in the Archiving 2018 Proceedings. JIST-first papers are automatically given as an oral talk at the conference; JIST-first submissions that are not accepted are automatically considered for presentation.
