CALL FOR PAPERS

Swarm and Evolutionary Computation Journal
Special Issue on Immune Computation and Applications

I. AIM AND SCOPE
Immune Computation, also known as "Artificial Immune System", is a fast developing research area in the Computational Intelligence community. As a kind of computationally intelligent systems, Artificial Immune Systems (AISs) are inspired by the information processing mechanism of biological immune system.

The typical models/algorithms of AISs include Clonal Selection Algorithms, Negative Selection Algorithms, Immune Network Algorithms, Dendritic Cell Algorithms, Negative Databases, Negative Surveys, and so on. The models/algorithms of AISs have been applied into various applications, including networking and computer security, data privacy, optimization, data mining, automation and design, anomaly detection, bioinformatics, pattern recognition, etc.

The aims of this special issue are: (1) to present the state-of-the-art research on Artificial immune systems; (2) to provide a forum for experts to disseminate their recent advances and views on future perspectives in the field.

II. THEMES
Following the development of AISs, the topics of this special issue include two aspects. First, contributions on immune algorithms and applications are very welcome. Second, contributions on modeling biological immune systems are also welcome, but potential usages for developing computationally intelligent systems should be clearly stated.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
1. Immune algorithms and Applications
• Immune algorithms for optimization
• Clonal selection algorithms
• Immune network algorithms
• Dendritic cell algorithms
• Immune-based security techniques
• Immune-based privacy protection schemes
• Negative/positive selection algorithms
• Negative databases and applications
• Negative surveys and applications
• Immune algorithms for pattern recognition
• Immune algorithms for robotics and control
• Immune algorithms for fault diagnosis
• Immune-based data mining techniques
2. Modeling of biological immune systems
• Modeling of immune learning and memory
• Modeling of immune system response
• Modeling of immune cells and antibodies
• Modeling of viruses or cancers
• Self/nonself model
• Immune network model
• Security model of biological immune system
• Computer simulations of biological immune system

III. SUBMISSIONS
Submission to this special issue is by two routes: (1) Open Call-for-papers and (2) Invited Papers.

(1) Submissions via open Call-for-papers. By publicizing an open call-for-papers (CFPs) in the Artificial Immune Systems community, we expect to receive a number of submissions via the open call-for-papers.

(2) Extended versions of selected best papers from IComputation'17 (the 2017 IEEE Symposium on Immune Computation) will be invited for consideration by the guest editors. These submitted papers must be substantially revised, improved, and extended from their earlier conference versions with at least 30% new “contributions”.

The manuscripts should be prepared according to the “Guide for Authors” section of the journal found at: https://www.elsevier.com/journals/swarm-and-evolutionary-computation/2210-6502/guide-for-authors/ and submission should be done through the journal submission website: https://www.evise.com/evise/jrnl/SWEVO. Follow the submission instructions given on this site; please select the article type as “Special Issue: Immune Comp & Apps”.
