La conférence donne aux participants le moyen de faire partager leurs travaux sur les fondements théoriques et pratiques du domaine. La recherche d'information connaît une évolution sans précédent avec en particulier la croissance des applications liées au web. Le domaine est lui-même en pleine mutation et s'ouvre en permanence à de nouvelles thématiques. Les travaux sont extrêmement variés, allant des modèles théoriques de recherche d'information à la recherche d'information de documents structurés sur le Web, en passant par les interfaces homme-machine intelligentes pour la recherche d'information, la recherche de documents multilingues ou multimédia, les bibliothèques électroniques. De nombreuses thématiques porteuses émergent : recherche web, applications Web2.0 avec l'exploitation des réseaux sociaux, les blogs, forums et autres sites communautaires, les grands graphes du web, l'analyse de rumeurs, de sentiments, etc.
Le public visé par CORIA 2010 est celui des chercheurs -- débutants (thésards, M2) ou confirmés (Post-Docs, Enseignants-Chercheurs et Chercheurs, Ingénieurs R&D) -- effectuant leur recherche dans le domaine de la Recherche d'Information ou des domaines connexes, en France ou dans des pays francophones comme ceux d'Afrique du Nord, la Suisse, la Belgique et le Canada.
