CALL FOR PAPERS

WORKSHOP ON DATA MINING IN TRANSPORTATION SECURITY

Organizers: Travis Atkison, Alex Hainen, and Bernard Chen

Securing our transportation system and infrastructure is an important task that should not be taken lightly. This workshop looks at how data mining technologies and methods have and can be used to improve all facets of transportation safety and security. The goals of this workshop are to share experiences and demonstrate the data mining solutions that have been developed by both researchers and practitioners, identify research questions, and continue to build the community. The main focus of this workshop is to look at the topics of infrastructure protection and transportation safety and security of both commercial and private vehicles. Though this is the main focus, the workshop is open at all aspects of data mining relating to transportation.

The topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Intelligent transportation systems
- Connected vehicles
- Data analysis models for transportation safety
- Transportation information acquisition methods
- Transportation information processing
- Transportation safety models
- Traffic control
- Transportation planning
- Driving behavior
- Smart transportation
- Forecasting traffic events
- Modeling and simulation of transportation infrastructures
- Other related topics

This is a workshop of DMIN’17 which will be held during the DMIN'17 conference, July 17-20, in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA and will cover all aspects of data mining relating to transportation security and safety. All papers should be submitted using the standard procedures for DMIN papers by 24 March 2017 (http://dmin-2017.international-conference-on-data-mining.com/submission.htm). For your submission of the draft paper, please select the Track 'DMTS - Workshop/Special Session on Data Mining in Transportation Security’.

Any questions should be directed to the organizers T. Atkison (atkison@cs.ua.edu), A. Hainen (ahainen@eng.ua.edu) or B. Chen (bchen@uca.edu) (cc to DMIN'17 Special Session Chair (special-session-chair@dmin-2017.international-conference-on-data-mining.com)).
