Call For Papers

The IEEE PerCom Workshop on Smart Environments (SmartE) is a forum for researchers and developers in the area of smart environments to present results and discuss ways to advance the field. This workshop will focus on the theme of smart environments, in which smart homes, smart workplaces, and other spaces with which humans interact take on the role of intelligent agents. Smart environments inherently integrate ideas, tools, and expertise from a variety of disciplines. We would like to facilitate discussions between researchers with diverse perspectives in order to more greatly enhance future work in the area. As a result, we will encourage papers and attendees in the following topic areas:
* Ambient intelligence
* Intelligent agent technologies for smart environments
* Smart environment middleware and programming models
* Context-aware environments
* Networking and communication for smart environments
* Human-computer interaction
* Knowledge management
* Smart sensors and actuators
* Wearable sensors and smart environments
* Space, architecture, and design
* Social computing for smart environments
* Domestic robots
* Smart virtual environments
* Legal and ethical aspects of smart environments
* Smart environment applications

Interested authors can submit their papers online at http://www.easychair.org/ by the submission deadline. Authors will need to register thier names if not already in the system (select "Click here to log in" at the top left of the page), and select the SmartE 2010 workshop. They can then submit their paper as a PDF file.
The paper should not exceed six pages and should follow IEEE Computer Society format (templates are available at http://www2.computer.org/portal/web/cscps/formatting). Accepted papers must be presented at the workshop and will appear in the IEEE PerCom Workshop Proceedings.
