ENIC 2017 - CALL FOR PAPERS

We are more and more surrounded by different kinds of networks, distributed and interconnected systems and vast amounts of inter-related data. The world-wide web in its current form reaches out to mobile communication networks and is the basis for online communities and social media of various types, including private and professional social networks, platforms supporting content sharing (from wikis to videos), online cooperation and production (from Wikipedia to open source software development) as well as massive open online courses for learning. Techniques rooted in Social Network Analysis (SNA), data mining and information extraction facilitate a better understanding and management as well as well-grounded evolution of these systems and services.

The aim of the annual European Network Intelligence Conference (ENIC) is to create an open premier forum to exchange knowledge and experience as well as to discuss recent advances in models, theories, and computational analysis techniques related to these various types of networks and online communities.

ENIC 2017 will be centered around the following three main themes and sub-topics:

1) Social Network Analysis - Models and Methods
Cohesive subgroup discovery in social networks
Contextual social network analysis
Dynamics of networks and social communities
Economic impact of social network discovery
Efficiency of SNA methods and algoritms
Graph-based algorithms for SNA
Information diffusion and spread of influence in social networks
Measures of similarity and dissimilarity in social networks
Multiple / multilayer / multi-relational social network analysis
Parallel processing of graph data
Scalability of social networking and social media data processing
Signed graphs and multigraphs
Simulations and computational models for social networks
Social intelligence
Social role identification
Social search analysis
Spatial networks
Statistical modelling of large networks
Structural and temporal patterns in dynamic networks
Visual representations of dynamic social networks

2) Analytics of Social Media and Mobile Communication
Analysis techniques for web-based video usage and sharing
Big data approaches for social networks and social media
Blog and microblog analysis
Data acquisition and social relationship extraction for social media
Data analysis in Wikis
Data models for social networks and social media
Data protection and privacy issues in social media

3) Analytics and Support of Online Working and Learning Communities
Algorithmic approaches for composing teams and learning groups
Analytic approaches for Open Educational Resources (OER)
Analytics of co-publication and citation networks
Analytics of online learning courses (incl. MOOCs)
Collaborative web-based content production (incl. Wikipedia)
Dashboards supporting supervision and moderation of online communities

Recommender Systems for communities of interest (incl. scientific paper recommendation)
Recommender systems for the establishment of social relations

The ENIC 2017 Proceedings will be published in a volume of the Springer LNSN series (Lecture Notes on Social Networks). Papers reporting original and unpublished research results addressing one or more of the above topics are solicited. The papers will be reviewed by a minimum of two subject experts. Full paper manuscripts must be in English with a maximum length of 16 pages using the Springer Lecture Notes format (templates available here).
Springer will retain the copyright for accepted papers. Papers will be accepted for the conference based on the reviewers assessment and comments. The publication in the LNSN volume will require the full registration of at least one of the authors for ENIC 2017. Selected papers will be invited for publication in a journal in extended form.
