Call For Papers

Dear Madam / Sir,
Maltepe University, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is organizing the international undergraduate student congress titled “Migration in a Changing World” to be held in March 30-31, 2017.
Migration is the process in which people move from one place to another for the purpose of settlement. As Castles and Miller (1993) emphasize, we are now living in an “age of migration”. Migration and asylum seeking have emerged as among the most pressing and contentious issues facing the world in the early 21st century. On the one hand, the deepening crisis in countries like Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and developing African countries has triggered the mass migration of over three million refugees and asylum-seekers into European countries in the last years. The scale of this movement has been growing at not seen since the Second World War. The migration from Middle East and Central Asia to Turkey and Western countries has become a widely contested issue in many countries, especially in the more traditional immigration countries in the north-west of Europe. Related to issues around culture, societies, social rights, citizenship and the migrant receiving communities, current contemporary wave of migration is changing many aspects of today’s world.

Maltepe University is delighted to announce the opening of the call for papers for the “Migration in a Changing World” undergraduate student conference to be held in Maltepe University in Istanbul, Turkey on March 30-31, 2017.
