Call For Papers

* Special Session on "Multi-Agent Systems and Ambient Intelligence (MASAI) *
* Polytechnic of Porto - Porto (Portugal) | 21st-23rd June, 2017 *
* http://www.paams.net/special-sessions/masai *

This Special Session is organized as part of The 17th International Conference on Practical Applications of Agents and Multi-Agent Systems (PAAMS'17)
http://paams.net/

Authors of selected papers from (MASAI’16) 2016 will be invited to submit an extended and improved version to a special issue published in Journal of Sensors. (JCR Impact Factor: 1.182)

------DESCRIPTION------

Ambient Intelligence (AmI) technologies are expected to be sensitive, responsive, adaptive, transparent, ubiquitous, and intelligent. The three first features greatly rely on the context-aware computing, but transparency and ubiquity depend on the area of ubiquitous computing. But it is intelligence which becomes a critical feature as it makes AmI systems more sensitive, responsive, adaptive, transparent and ubiquitous. The main reason is that the intelligence feature helps in understanding user environments and, consequently, in providing them with adaptive assistance. This explains why AmI entails contributions from different areas of AI, especially from multi-agents systems (MAS).

There is a natural relationship between AmI and MAS. Indeed, AmI proposes the development of context aware systems equipped with devices that can recognize context and act accordingly. Agents provide an effective way to develop such systems since agents are reactive, proactive and exhibit an intelligent and autonomous behavior. Within agent-based AmI applications, agents react to humans based on information obtained by sensoring and their knowledge about human functioning.

The complexity of AmI systems turn their development into a challenging work demanding adequate tools that assist throughout a well-established software development process. Both tools and process should be able to adapt themselves to the diversity of AmI devices and communication technologies from an implementation point of view.

The aim of this special session is offering researchers interested in the development of AmI Systems the opportunity to meet and discuss on the contributed solutions that mainly use the capabilities of multi-agent systems.

------TOPICS------

Topics of interest for the special session include (but are not limited to) the following themes:

• Models and processes for development of MAS for Ambient Intelligence
• Tools and plaforms for development of MAS for Ambient Intelligence
• Agent societies and social networks for MAS for Ambient Intelligence
• Agent cooperation and negotiation for MAS for Ambient Intelligence
• Human agent interaction, user interfaces MAS for Ambient Intelligence
• Adaptation, learning and personalization MAS for Ambient Intelligence
• Industrial experiences about MAS for Ambient Intelligence

------PUBLICATION------

Accepted papers will be included in PAAMS'16 Proceedings. At least one of the authors will be required to register and attend the symposium to present the paper in order to include the paper in the conference proceedings. All accepted papers will be published by Springer Verlag.

Selected papers of the Special Session will be invited to be extended for a Special Issue of the Journal of Sensors - Impact Factor 1.182(see Integration of Sensors in Control and Automation Systems-http://www.hindawi.com/journals/js/si/383987/cfp/).
