Original contributions are solicited for the special session “Video Surveillance and Event Detection” on the eve of INDIACom – 2017; 11th INDIACom – 4th 2017 International Conference on Computing for Sustainable Global Development in the heart of the India’s capital and historical city: New Delhi. About the Special Session on Video Surveillance and Event Detection: With the latest imaging systems and high power computing, real-time automated monitoring of videos is possible. The aim of automated video surveillance is to extract significant information from the video such as the analysis of recurring image patterns such as text or objects, or decoding the activity being performed, or detecting the occurrence of anomalous events that significantly deviates from normal behavior. Efficient video-surveillance algorithms need to be developed as an effective solution to automated surveillance problems. This special session seeks to bring together the latest original research on video surveillance algorithms and the detection of events in videos. Original and unpublished submissions addressing emerging issues in video surveillance and event detection are invited that include but are not limited to, the following topics. • Activity recognition • Gait recognition • Event or anomaly detection in videos • Object tracking • Novel video feature representation and extraction • Machine learning algorithms for video surveillance • Analysis of specific image patterns such as text or objects in videos Paper Submission Authors from across different parts of the world are invited to submit their papers. Authors wishing to submit their papers must refer to the website, for paper structuring and formatting guidelines in detail, at http://www.bvicam.ac.in/indiacom/Technical%20Guidelines.asp.
