“Journal of Communications and Information Networks” quarterly publishes state-of-the-art articles on research of communications and information networks, as well as reviews and forums on issues of interest. Emphasis is placed on providing the reader with emerging and advanced information of fundamental theory, technical developments, research issues, and new applications to meet the needs of future trends. The general scope ranges from theoretical contributions to practical implementation, and includes, but is not limited to the following: Broadband wireless communications, Optical communications, Satellite communications, High altitude platform communications, Software defined radio, Cognitive radio networks, Mobile ad hoc networks, Software defined networks, Multimedia communications, Internet of things, Cyber security, Network management.
Space Information Networks Space Information Networks (SIN) are network systems based on space platforms, such as geostationary satellites, medium/low earth orbit satellites, stratospheric balloons, etc.. As important parts of the national infrastructure and global hot research areas, SIN may expand human activities to space, high sea and even deep space, by acquiring, processing and transmitting wide range information. However, the development of SIN is likely restricted by spectrum and orbits resources, and has been challenging due to difficulties in extending space-time coverage. In order to deal with the fundamental problems with the information networks and their applications, it is urgent to carry out the research on basic theory and key technologies for SIN. Aim of this special issue is to provide the readers with advanced information regarding SIN research. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following: System model and architecture for SIN; Dynamic navigation augmentation ad-hoc networks of air-space-ground integration; UAVs/near-space platforms and satellites coordinated networks; Dynamic access and exchange for SIN; Ultra-fast communications for SIN; Space dynamic multi beam forming; Collaborative information distribution for space-ground networks; Sparse representation and in-orbit processing for space information; High precision interference imaging for space-distributed SAR; Satellite-ground collaboration for remote sensing information.
