Call For Papers

The 24th Irish Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science will take place in University College Dublin on 20th-21st September, 2016. With regular conferences dating back to 1988, the AICS Conference is Ireland's primary forum for researchers with interests in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science. While once a niche area, the fields of Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence, which encompass Data Analytics, Information Retrieval, and Machine Learning, are now at the forefront of Irish computing research and industry.

The Program Committee of AICS 2016 invites submissions in the broad areas of Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science. Areas of interest include, but are not restricted to:

-- activity recognition
-- adaptive information systems
-- analogical reasoning
-- attention
-- autonomic computing
-- behaviour epistemology
-- case-based reasoning
-- cognitive modelling
-- collective intelligence
-- constraint processing
-- data mining
-- dialogue systems
-- dynamical systems modelling
-- emergent models of social behaviour
-- emergent, embodied and enactive approaches to minds and & behaviour
-- epistemology
-- evolutionary computation
-- game-playing & game AI
-- genetic algorithms
-- graph mining
-- human computer interaction in artificial intelligence
-- human learning
-- information retrieval
-- intelligent agents
-- knowledge representation & reasoning
-- machine learning
-- machine translation
-- memory
-- minds and behaviour
-- multi-agent modelling
-- natural language processing
-- neural networks & deep learning
-- ontological reasoning
-- perception
-- perceptually guided action
-- planning & scheduling
-- psycholinguistics
-- question answering
-- reasoning from linked-data
-- recommender systems
-- semantic web
-- sentiment analysis & opinion mining
-- social network analysis
-- temporal factors in cognition
-- text mining

We invite three types of submissions:

-- Full Paper Track: Full paper submissions should consist of original contributions (describing either basic research, interesting applications, or reviews of the field) not published in other forums. Papers should be of 6 to 12 pages in length in the Springer LNCS style. Accepted submissions will appear in online proceedings (published at www.ceur-ws.org), and authors will be invited for oral or poster presentation.

-- NECTAR Track: NECTAR track submissions should describe significant results previously published or disseminated no earlier than 2014 at a prestigious international conference or journal. NECTAR track submissions require only a link to an accessible copy of the original work. Accepted submissions will be included in online proceedings (published at www.ceur-ws.org) as a single page abstract, and authors will be invited to present their work orally at AICS.

-- MSc Student Track: This track is designed to facilitate students enrolled in MSc programmes with a dissertation component due for submission in August or September 2016, and so has a later paper submission deadline than the other tracks. MSc student track submissions should consist of original contributions (describing either basic research, interesting applications, or reviews of the field) and the first author must be a registered MSc student upon whose dissertation the paper is based. Papers should be of 6 to 12 pages in length in the Springer LNCS style. Accepted submissions will appear in online proceedings (published at www.ceur-ws.org), and authors will be invited for poster presentation.

Important Dates (Full Paper Track and NECTAR Track)

-- Paper Submission Deadline: EXTENSION -- 18th July, 2016
-- Notification of Acceptance/Rejection: 20th August, 2016
-- Camera Ready Papers Due: 5th September, 2016

Important Dates (MSc Student Track)

-- Paper Submission Deadline: 19th August, 2016
-- Notification of Acceptance/Rejection: 29th August, 2016
-- Camera Ready Papers Due: 5th September, 2016

Instructions to Authors

All accepted submissions will be presented at the conference, either orally or as posters, and included in the online conference proceedings. At least one author of each submission will be required to register for, and attend, the conference. All submissions should be made using the EasyChair system at www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=aics20160

Papers should be submitted in Springer LNCS format, which is the format required for the final camera-ready copy.
