CALL FOR PAPERS

5GeS'16: International Workshop on 5G in eHealthcare Services
URL: https://sites.google.com/site/spathansite/5ges

in conjunction with the
18th International Conference on E-health Networking, Application & Services (Healthcom'16),
Munich, Germany, September 14-17, 2016

OVERVIEW

The objective of this workshop is to offer an international forum for presentation of research papers that would address the impact of 5G in eHealthcare (eH) services. The key question is: Would there be any direct impact of 5G on the eHealthcare services? In the recent years, we have seen an explosive growth of research works that question, analyze, and suggest solutions to the future growth of mobile telecommunications. It is understood that some of the core goals of 5G are to allow smooth functioning of applications that require high speed, better coverage, reduced latency, and supporting bandwidth-intensive and time-sensitive multimedia. All these would be beneficial for improvement of the eHealthcare sector. However, some researchers opine that the direct impact of 5G in eH would be more focused on how to handle disconnections, maintain security of communications, reliable communications over the Internet of Things (IoT), integration and smooth functioning with other parallel technologies, and so on. This is because, to offer dependable eHealthcare services, for instance to perform a remote surgery or to assess a disease correctly, real-time human interaction would be needed in most of the cases and just increasing speed of communication would not solve the dependability issue. In essence, no greater data speed or coverage or improved latency in the mobile telecommunication would be needed than what is required as the minimum and sufficient configuration for any such scenario; however, flawless service would be essential.

TOPICS OF INTEREST

In this workshop we like to invite papers on the following topics but other subtopics related to the area are also welcome:
- High confidence mobile telecommunications for eH
- Medical data protection in the 5G era
- Multimedia streaming in the context of 5GeS
- Reliability and dependability issues of 5GeS
- eHealthcare services in extreme & dynamic environments
- Convergence of services with 5GeS
- 5G based eH services for sports events
- eHealthcare coverage in the sea for sailors and in the deep sea
- Impact of 5G on innovative eH applications

IMPORTANT DATES

Paper Submission: 31 May, 2016
Acceptance notification: 10 July, 2016
Camera ready paper: 30 July, 2016

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

The workshop invites submissions of original, previously unpublished contributions. Papers have to follow IEEE format requirements and have to be written in English. Papers must follow the IEEE paper template. Please visit http://ieeehealthcom2016.com/call-for-submission for detailed submission instructions. The submissions will undergo peer review to ensure the highest standards. Accepted and duly presented papers will be published in the IEEE Healthcom’16 Conference Proceedings and indexed in IEEE Xplore (http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/), the IEEE digital repository.

Submission must be done in PDF form via the EDAS submission link for 5GeS’16:
