State level workshop on “Financial Inclusion and Rural Empowerment in Jharkhand: Issues, Progress and Prospects” Date: 21-22 March 2016 Organized by Indian Statistical Institute Giridih in collaboration with NABARD Jharkhand Venue: Indian Statistical Institute Giridih Objectives: 1.To bring various stakeholders in a common platform for discussion on various issues/constraints, opportunities and prospects for rural empowerment through financial inclusion in the state 2.Try to develop new strategy for empowerment of vulnerable sections through micro finance and SHG in rural areas of Jharkhand Themes: 1. SHGs, micro enterprises and their performances in Jharkhand 2. Livelihood initiatives through SHGs and JLGs and practice under NRLM 3. Constraints of SHG promotion in most backward regions, tribal dominated and left- wing influenced areas 4. Leveraging modern technology-the information technology intervention in managing SHG & MF 5. Develop other approach and methodology for better outreach in tribal and rural pockets 6. Strategy to develop and strengthen income flows through micro enterprises to boost repayment performances and sustainable rural development 7. Strengthening marketing and supply chain management 8. Effective convergence of different activities and efforts for SHGs being accentuated through various new schemes such as Prime Minister Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) and Atal Pension Yojana for their outreach and performance 9. Strengthening coordination with line departments such as Rural development and Panchayati Raj department for effective planning, implementation and monitoring of allied schemes 10. Governance issues in MF sector 11. Participatory planning, financing and capacity building 12.
