Call For Papers

The Cognitive Science Student Association is proud to host the first annual California Cognitive Science Conference on the UC Berkeley campus. Berkeley has fantastic faculty members across every discipline in the cognitive sciences and a very engaged student body, so we appreciate the great opportunity we have to showcase the excellent work of our professors and our students.

This conference is not only intended to exhibit the research done on campus but also to provide an opportunity for community members and students and staff at schools all across California to engage in an open forum about all things related to the mind. We encourage all undergraduates and graduates doing cognitive science research to submit work and become a part of the conference experience.

This year’s theme, “Tricks of the Mind,” is inspired by the intrigue and mystery that surround the interactions of the expected and unexpected. Despite being highly intelligent and civilized entities, our experiences are still subject to the will of our brain-mind systems. Our perceptual processes may deceive, our intentions may betray us, our own thoughts may be represented in ways that are surprising and consciously inaccessible. By looking at the mind’s methodical trickery from a variety of different perspectives, we hope to be able to explain some of the fascinating phenomena we know about while simultaneously opening up new, insightful questions that may be the subject for future research and investigation.

Submission* of proposals for the conference is done through the EasyChair system. We are only asking for 600 word abstracts. EasyChair will allow you to upload a PDF, PS, Doc, or LaTeX paper if you want to, but only your abstract will be evaluated. Please note that abstracts will not be reviewed until after you have registered.
