CALL FOR CHAPTER PROPOSALS
Design Solutions for User-Centric Information Systems http://www.igi-global.com/publish/call-for-papers/call-details/2067 Editors Dr. Saqib Saeed Dr. Yasser A. Bamarouf Prof. T. Ramayah Mr. Zafar Iqbal Deadlines: Proposals Submission Deadline: February 28, 2016 Full Chapters Due: April 30, 2016 Camera Ready Submission Date: July 30, 2016 Introduction In order to foster successful usage of information systems, it is important that systems design should focus on user work practices. As a result traditional requirement gathering and evaluation methodologies fall short as they mainly rely on "official" viewpoint rather than actual practices. As a result notions of "Participatory Design" and "User Centric Design" have emerged in information system domain. These concepts focus on empowering the user in design process as well so that users have more control on design processes which will lead to more successful usage of information systems. Technology appropriation is a complex task and in order to design appropriate technological systems there is a strong emphasis on involving users in system design process. As a result the information systems and work practices of users are aligned together which increases the probaibility of technology adoption by end users. The goal of this book is to provide state of the art research and best practices. Objective The aim of this book is to publish high quality original research contributions on the specialized theme of user centric information system design and management processes. The content will disseminate theoretical foundations and empirical studies by researchers and practitioners. Target Audience The book is intended for students and researchers working in Information system, Human computer interaction and Computer supported cooperative work domains. So students and university libraries are potential users for this publication. The book will also be helpful for professionals working in professional organizations. Recommended Topics Topics to be discussed in this special issue include (but are not limited to) the following: •Technology Appropriation in Organizational Settings •Empirical Studies of Technology Usage •Open Sources Systems and Information System Design Process •Web 2.0 and organizational Dynamics •IT and Knowledge Management in Organizations •Participatory and User Centered Design Approaches •Empirical Studies of System Evaluation in Practice •User Experiences with Technology Infrastructures •Heuristic Evaluation and Usability Testing Issues • Web and Mobile Usability •System Design and Cultural Implications •Usability and Technology Diffusion •Economic, Ethical, Security, Privacy and Legal Issues in Information System Design Submission Procedure Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before February 28, 2016, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter.
