Call For Papers

ICWS 2016 Call for Papers

Sponsored by the Services Society and the Technical Committee on Services Computing (TC-SVC), IEEE Computer Society
The 23rd IEEE International Conference on Web Services (ICWS 2016)

Theme: Internet/Web Based Services
GREAT NEWS: In 2016, Services Computing community will work with IEEE Transactions on Services Computing (TSC) to advertise a new Conference-to-Journal (C2J) publication model in the Services Computing community. In short, PC Chairs of the top services computing conferences will recommend top papers to TSC for direct journal publication in 2 special issues. Authors of the recommended top conference papers should follow the same rules as regular conference authors with respect to the conferences. The only difference is the publication venue: TSC conference special issue or conference proceedings. There is no additional work required for authors. Recommended top papers will appear as TSC special issue articles, 8 pages per paper, as it is accepted by the conference.
ICWS 2016 has obtained approval from the following journals to organize special issues based on extended versions of top ICWS papers:
-Special Issue in IEEE Transactions on Services Computing (TSC) (Impact Factor: 3.049; Indexed by SCI & EI),
-Special Issues in International Journal of Services Computing (IJSC),
-Special Issues in International Journal of Web Services Research (JWSR)(Indexed by SCI & EI),
-Special Issues in International Journal of Business Process Integration and Management (IJBPIM).
Selected accepted papers will be invited to submit extended versions to special issues of TSC, IJSC, JWSR, and IJBPIM.
ICWS 2016 program committee invites you to participate in the 23rd edition of ICWS, to be held on June 27 - July 2, 2016, San Francisco, USA
The IEEE International Conference on Web Services (ICWS) has been a prime international forum for researchers, academics, businesses, industry, and standard bodies to exchange the latest fundamental advances in the state of the art and practice of Web-based services, identify emerging research topics, and define the future of Web-based services. Internet/Web-based services are not limited to Web services. In 2016, we will strive to advance the largest international professional forum on Internet/Web-based services. The Proceedings of ICWS is EI indexed.
ICWS 2016 will co-locate with the following service-oriented sister conferences: the 9th IEEE International Conference on Cloud Computing (CLOUD 2016), the 13th IEEE International Conference on Services Computing (SCC 2016), the 5th International Congress on Big Data (BigData Congress 2016), the 5th IEEE International Conference on Mobile Services (MS 2016), and the 9th IEEE World Congress on Services (SERVICES 2016)). The 6 co-located theme topic conferences will all center around "services," while each focusing on exploring different themes (web-based services, cloud-based services, Big Data-based services, services innovation lifecycle, mobile services, and industry-specific services as well as emerging service-oriented technologies).
From technology foundation perspective, Services Computing has become the default discipline in the modern services industry. As a major implementation technology for modernizing services industry, Web services are Internet-based programmable application components published using standard interface description languages and universally available via uniform communication protocols. In its 23rd version, the program of ICWS 2016 will continue to feature research papers with a wide range of topics, focusing on various aspects of Web-based services. Some of the topics include Web services specifications and enhancements, Web services discovery and integration, Web services QoS (e.g., security, performance, reliability, fault tolerance, etc.), Web services standards and formalizations, Web services modeling, Web services engineering, Web services testing, Web services-based applications and solutions, Web services realizations, semantics in Web services, Web services supporting Cloud Computing, Web services lifecycle management, and all aspects of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) infrastructure and middleware.
The technical program of ICWS 2016 will include a Research Track, an Application Track, and a Short Paper Track. The ICWS 2016 tracks seeks original, UNPUBLISHED research papers reporting substantive new work in various aspects of Internet/Web based services. Research Track papers MUST clearly indicate their contributions to the field of Web-based services. All papers MUST properly cite related work in the field, such as those published in the proceedings of ICWS, SCC, CLOUD, SERVICES, APSCC, ECOWS, and related journals including TSC, JWSR, IJSC, and IJBPIM (see Literature Recommendations page).
All topics relevant to Internet/Web based services are of interest. ICWS 2016 will organize refereed paperreviews in 7 research areas (themes):

Review Policy
IEEE Policy and professional ethics require that referees treat the contents of papers under review as privileged information not to be disclosed to others before publication. It is expected that no one with access to a paper under review will make any inappropriate use of the special knowledge, which that access provides. Contents of abstracts submitted to conference program committees should be regarded as privileged as well, and handled in the same manner. The Conference Publications Chair shall ensure that referees adhere to this practice.
Organizers of IEEE conferences are expected to provide an appropriate forum for the oral presentation and discussion of all accepted papers. An author, in offering a paper for presentation at an IEEE conference, or accepting an invitation to present a paper, is expected to be present at the meeting to deliver the paper. In the event that circumstances unknown at the time of submission of a paper preclude its presentation by an author, the program chair should be informed on time, and appropriate substitute arrangements should be made. In some cases it may help reduce no-shows for the Conference to require advance registration together with the submission of the final manuscript.

Founded in 2003, IEEE Computer Society's Technical Committee on Services Computing (TC-SVC) is a multidisciplinary group whose purpose is to advance and coordinate work in the field of Services Computing carried out throughout the IEEE in scientific, engineering, standard, literary and educational areas.
Services Computing has become a cross-discipline that covers the science and technology of bridging the gap between Business Services and IT Services. The underneath breaking technology suite includes Web services and service-oriented architecture (SOA), cloud computing, business consulting methodology and utilities, business process modeling, transformation and integration. This scope of Services Computing covers the whole lifecycle of services innovation research that includes business componentization, services modeling, services creation, services realization, services annotation, services deployment, services discovery, services composition, services delivery, service-to-service collaboration, services monitoring, services optimization, as well as services management. The goal of Services Computing is to enable IT services and computing technology to perform business services more efficiently and effectively.
About the Services Society

The Services Society (SS) is a non-profit professional organization that has been created to promote worldwide research and technical collaboration in Services Computing (SC) among academia and industrial professionals. Its members are volunteers from industry and academia with common interests. SS is registered in the USA as a "501(c) organization", which means that it is an American tax-exempt nonprofit organization." SS collaborates with other professional organizations such as the IEEE to sponsor conferences and to promote an effective services curriculum in colleges and universities. The SS initiates and promotes a "Services University" program worldwide to bridge the gap between industrial needs and university instruction.
