Introduction
Multimedia is a media and content uses an arrangement of diverse content forms. Sounds, audio, graphics, animation, and video are arising with an attractive, more enticing and combing to form multimedia. The most significant form of multimedia is video, as it has various relevance is different aspects.
Where a time varying image has a spatial intensity distribution that varies with time, while a still image is a spatial distribution of intensities that remain constant with time. A series of time-varying images can be represented as video signal and considered as frames which are the basic unit of any video. An illusion of continuous video is obtained by changing the frames in a faster manner which is generally termed as frame rate. While, a sequence of interrelated consecutive frames taken by a single camera at a stretch is considered as a video shot. In a digital video, the picture information is digitized both spatially and temporally and the resultant pixel intensities are quantized.
Generally, digital video and image processing applied for improving the quality of the captured images. Diverse applications for video processing are in the following fields:
1)Astronomy (to enhance the quality),
2)Medicine (to measure and understand some parameters of the human body, e.g., blood flow in fractured veins),
3)Image compression (to reduce the memory requirement when storing an image),
4)Sports (to capture the motion of an athlete in order to understand and improve the performance),
5)Rehabilitation (to assess the locomotion abilities), motion pictures (to capture actors’ motion in order to produce special effects based on graphics),
6)Surveillance (detect and track individuals and vehicles), production industries (to assess the quality of products),
7)Robot control (to detect objects and their pose so a robot can pick them up),
8)TV productions (mixing graphics and live video, e.g., weather forecast), biometrics (to measure some unique parameters of a person),
9)Photo editing (improving the quality or adding effects to photographs), etc.
Numerous of these applications rely on the same video and image processing methods. Accordingly, these basic methods will the focus of this book. This book concentrates on different video processing techniques such as video segmentation, compression, encryption, mining, etc. Furthermore, it will specify the principals of the biomedical video analysis and the automatic story board generation.

Objective
Currently people have convenience to a huge amount of video both on television and internet. So, there is a great potential for video-based applications in many areas including security and surveillance, medicine, personal entertainment, news video, sports, and educational programs. The progression in multimedia acquirement and storage technology leads to a marvelous growth in multimedia databases. Video mining covenants with the extraction of implicit knowledge stored in the multimedia data. Video data processing is an essential task in the data mining. The main challenge is to handle the video data which has complex structure. Video data encloses numerous sorts of data such as text, audio and video consists of a sequence of images.
The most essential task in video processing is to divide the long video sequences into a number of shots. Afterward, discover a key frame of each shot for supplementary video information retrieval tasks. Segmentation of the video track into smaller items facilitates the succeeding processing procedures on video shots, for instance semantic representation/ tracking of the selected video information, video indexing and recognizing the frames where a transition occurred from one shot to another. The low level features can be extracted from the segmented video. The video data must be manipulated appropriately for efficient information retrieval.
The main challenging task is the retrieval of information from the video data. The majority task is to transform the unstructured data into structured one for video data processing. Prior to processing the video frames noise elimination and illumination changes should be removed.

This book deliberates on the foremost techniques of video processing including segmentation, noise elimination, mining, and compression. It deals, chiefly, with methods and approaches that involve video analysis and retrieval, automatic shot detection etc. As well as, it will include the miscellaneous applications of video processing and video security.
