Call For Papers

Multi-core processors are increasingly used in the implementation of embedded control systems as well as many other compute-intensive applications. To satisfy the demand of multi-functional embedded systems such as real-time image recognition and human body interaction plus gesture control, heterogeneous processors are needed. A heterogeneous multi-core processor integrates different types of processors (such as GPU, DSP, and general processors) in the same chip. However, practical real-time scheduling algorithms as well as supporting run-time and analysis tools on these processors are insufficiently available. This special issue is devoted to topics related to the design and analysis of real-time schedulers for heterogeneous multi-core systems. Such topics include, but are not limited to:

Scheduling algorithms and schedulability analysis;
Preemptive, non-preemptive, and abort-and-restart scheduling;
Co-scheduling of hardware resources;
Parallel task models and analysis;
Hierarchical scheduling;
Functional reactive programming;
Hardware-software co-design;
Synchronization and shared resource protocols;
Virtualization techniques;
Power and thermal management;
Timing analysis;
Operating systems;
Compilation techniques;
Middleware;
And application studies.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

All manuscripts are subject to standard rigorous review process of Microprocessors and Microsystems (MICPRO), the Elsevier Embedded Hardware Design Journal. Prospective authors must submit their manuscripts electronically via the Manuscript Central website. Authors should clearly identify their papers as submissions for the “Real-Time Scheduling on Heterogeneous Multi-core Processors Special issue” on their manuscript and in the “Author’s Cover Letter” field of the web submission form. The author guidelines for preparation of manuscript can be found at http://www.elsevier.com/locate/micpro/. All manuscripts and any supplementary material should be submitted to the via the Elsevier online system of the journal, available at http://ees.elsevier.com/micpro/, choosing “RT Sche Hetero MC” as “article type”. Further questions about the special issue may be directed to the Guest Editors.
