========================================================================

WSDM (pronounced “wisdom”) is the premier conference on web inspired
research involving search and data mining. The Ninth ACM International
WSDM Conference will take place in San Francisco, California, USA during
22-25 February 2016.

WSDM is a highly selective, single track meeting that includes invited
talks as well as refereed full papers. WSDM publishes original,
high-quality papers related to search and data mining on the Web and the
Social Web, with an emphasis on practical yet principled novel models of
search and data mining, algorithm design and analysis, economic
implications, and in-depth experimental analysis of accuracy and
performance.

Papers emphasizing novel algorithmic approaches are particularly
encouraged. Application-oriented papers that make innovative technical
contributions to research are welcome. Visionary papers on new and
emerging topics are also welcome.

Authors are explicitly discouraged from submitting papers that do not
clearly present their contribution with respect to previous works, that
contain only incremental results, and that do not provide significant
advances over existing approaches.

Submissions must represent new and original work. Concurrent submissions
are not allowed. Papers that have been published in or accepted to any
peer-reviewed journal or conference/workshop with published proceedings,
are currently under review, or will be submitted to other meetings or
publications while under review for WSDM 2016 may not be submitted to
WSDM 2016. Submissions that have been previously presented in venues
with no formal proceedings or as posters are allowed, but must be so
indicated on the first page of the submission. Additionally, the ACM has
a strict policy against plagiarism and self-plagiarism
(http://www.acm.org/publications/policies/plagiarism_policy). All prior
work must be appropriately cited.

PAPER FORMAT
Papers must be formatted according to ACM guidelines and style files
(http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-templates) to fit
within 10 pages, including references, diagrams, and appendices if any.
A submitted paper must be self-contained and in English.

It is the authors’ responsibility to ensure that their submissions
adhere strictly to the required format as described in this call for
papers. Submissions that do not conform to these guidelines may be
rejected without review.

SUBMISSIONS
Papers must be submitted in PDF format to the EasyChair website at
https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=wsdm2016. PDF files must
have all non-standard fonts embedded. After upload, please check the
copy stored on the site. Submissions that do not view or print properly
may be rejected without a chance to rectify the problem. Please contact
wsdm2016-pcchairs@easychair.org for any questions on the submission or
review process.

REVIEW PROCESS
The review process will be single-blind, therefore author names and
affiliations should be listed. Each paper will be reviewed by at least
three PC members and a senior PC member. The acceptance decisions will
take into account paper novelty, technical depth, elegance, practical or
theoretic impact, and presentation.

REPRODUCABILITY
The algorithms, resources and methods used within a paper should be
described as rigorously as possible. If the authors feel that this
cannot be done sufficiently due to the paper length limit, they are
encouraged to provide links to supplementary material, including
detailed descriptions, tests datasets and/or code elsewhere (e.g., code
repositories, institutional websites, or the authors’ website).

Reviewers may not necessarily consider the supplementary material in
their reviews. But for accepted papers, we will work with the publisher
to archive the supplementary material along with the camera-ready
version of the paper.

Wherever appropriate, the authors are encouraged to use publicly
available test collections and state-of-the-art baselines. Regardless of
the types of resources used (public test collections, proprietary data,
etc.), please consider sharing your intermediate/final experimental
results and code with the research community, or providing alternative
means of accessing your data or code if sharing is not possible.
Facilitating access to these resources is an effective way to enhance
the reproducibility of your methods and results, and hence the impact of
your research.

PUBLICATION AND PRESENTATION
All accepted papers will be published in the ACM Digital Library. For
every paper there must be a registered author to present it in person at
WSDM 2016. At the conference, all the papers will be allocated a slot at
the interactive poster session to encourage discussion. Additionally,
selected papers will be presented during the plenary oral sessions as
either long or short talks.
