Call For Papers

3rd International Workshop on
Model-based Interactive Ubiquitous Systems
- MODIQUITOUS -

|| http://modiquitous.seus.mobi
|| In conjunction with the 7th ACM SIGCHI Symposium on Engineering Interactive Computing Systems (EICS), Duisburg, Germany, June 23-26, 2015.

Overview
Ubiquitous systems introduce a new quality of interaction both into our lives and into software engineering. Software becomes increasingly dynamic, requiring frequent changes to system structures, distribution and behaviour. The constant adaptation to new user needs and contexts as well as new modalities, components, and communication channels make these systems differ strongly from what has been standard over the last decades.

Model-based interaction at runtime forms a promising approach for coping with dynamics and uncertainties inherent to interactive ubiquitous systems (IUS). This workshop discusses how model-driven development can be used to handle these challenges. In this third edition of MODIQUITOUS we put special focus on using models at runtime to support flexible, context-aware and interactive ubiquitous computing. Our goal is to bring together researchers and practitioners focused on different areas of IUS and to discuss various aspects of model-based interaction.

The workshop will be held as a full day workshop and aims to provide a forum for discussing new ideas, issues and solutions for model-based IUS. It will include the presentation of participants' contributions and various forms of interactive discussions concerning the presented topics.

Topics of Interest
The topics of particular interest to MODIQUITOUS include (but are not limited to):
- Model-driven architecture (MDA) in the context of IUS
- Advantages and problems of using MDA in the IUS domain
- Meta-models for IUS and IUS-related aspects (e.g., interaction, different modalities, dynamic distribution, context-awareness, etc.) with focus on runtime
- Domain-specific models for IUS
- Distributed user interfaces and UI migration at runtime
- Model-driven generation of (intelligent) IUS
- Model-to-model and model-to-code transformations for IUS development
- Model-driven development and execution architectures, i.e., runtime systems for IUS
- Tools and frameworks for supporting the model-driven development of IUS
- Concepts for context-awareness and self-adaptation of IUS
- Software Usability Engineering aspects of IUS
- Human Computer Interaction aspects of IUS
- Innovative ideas and novel application solutions for new interactive ubiquitous settings, e.g., from the fields of mobile computing, pervasive computing and social software
- Studies on interaction concepts on IUS
- Requirements, insights and experiences from existing mobile and pervasive settings

Important Dates
- Submission deadline: April 24, 2015
- Review notification: May 8, 2015
- Final submissions: May 31, 2015
- Workshop date: June 23, 2015
- Conference date: June 23-25, 2015

Paper Submission
Authors are invited to submit full research papers (6-8 pages) addressing one or more of the topics of interest. Further, we encourage the submission of work-in-progress and position papers (2-4 pages) as one aspect of achieving an interactive workshop atmosphere. These papers should describe cutting-edge systems or actual and relevant work in progress. Generally, both academic and industrial experience papers are solicited.

All submitted papers must be in English, formatted according to the SIGCHI Publications Format. Templates are available at http://www.sigchi.org/publications/chipubform. Papers can be submitted by using the EasyChair conference system.
To submit a paper please log in to EasyChair at: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=modiquitous2015

Submitted papers will be reviewed by members of the program committee. They will be evaluated according to their significance, originality, technical content, style, clarity, and relevance to the workshop. The contributions will be published in a publicly accessible way as workshop proceedings via the CEUR-WS platform, including a vision paper and the results of the workshop.

Important: At least one author of each accepted paper is expected to attend the workshop. Authors have to register for the workshop by the early-bird registration deadline (May 15, 2015) of the EICS conference via the conference website.
