EUROPLOP:

EuroPLoP is the premier European conference on patterns and pattern languages. Design patterns are a unique and effective way to capture expertise, tacit knowledge and research findings. EuroPLoP focuses on giving feedback and improving papers instead of only presenting them. Authors will receive high quality feedback in a constructive way. The comments and suggestions can be used to improve submitted papers for final publication:

- All accepted papers will be published in the EuroPLoP proceedings.
- Papers discussed in a Writer’s Workshop also qualify for a submission to the Springer journal LNCS Transactions on Pattern Languages of Programming (TPLoP).

EuroPLoP also accepts excerpts from PhD thesis or book projects. In the past, many book authors submitted parts of their work
to get feedback from the pattern community.

A UNIQUE CONFERENCE EXPERIENCE

Share and learn: Patterns are an effective way to share knowledge about a domain. A pattern description generalizes multiple cases and reflects about regularities and forces driving the solution. The interdisciplinary topics of the conference provide new insights and inspiring ideas from other fields.

Theory and practice: EuroPLoP attracts both, participants from academic and industrial contexts. It is a unique community of experts, researchers, practitioners and thought-leading people. The creative and constructive atmosphere is highly productive.

High-quality feedback: All submissions will benefit from an iterative shepherding process prior to the conference. In this process, authors receive feedback and suggestions for their work from an experienced pattern author. At the conference, your paper will be discussed by peers and experts from the same or related domains in a so-called Writer’s Workshop. Instead of giving yet another presentation, the authors get a lot of constructive feedback and comments that help to improve your paper.

PATTERN PAPERS

We encourage submitting patterns or pattern-related papers on all aspects of software, including the following topics:
- Software engineering
- Software architecture and design
- Education and collaboration
- Embedded systems
- Web development and cloud computing
- Mobile computing
- Agile development and coaching
- Software quality and verification
- Requirements engineering
- Protocols and standards
- Business and organization
- Distributed and service-oriented systems
- Human computer interaction
- and from other domains as well..

EuroPLoP accepts papers containing patterns or pattern languages, as well as experience reports and papers related to the theory and use of patterns.

PAPERS ON APPLYING AND IDENTIFYING PATTERNS

In addition to papers containing patterns and pattern languages, we also welcome papers on the use of patterns in industrial projects. They should stimulate a general discussion on how to utilize patterns more widely in practice.

Please submit:
- Scientific studies on patterns and pattern applications
- Papers that present theoretical arguments about patterns
- Reflections, analysis and empirical evaluations of patterns and pattern languages
- Reports on using patterns in industrial projects, education and organizations
- The pattern approach as a research methodology

FOCUS GROUPS

EuroPLoP is also looking for focus groups and proposals for new session formats. We have reserved time slots during EuroPLoP for scheduled focus groups. If you want to propose a focus group, please write a short abstract and submit it through our submission system. You can also propose and experiment with other formats (e.g. fishbowls, collaboration sheets, six thinking hats). Please state shortly how you will organize your session, how much time is needed, and how many participants are required. Our focus group chair can support you in organizing and planning your focus group.

SUBMISSION

Submission deadline for initial papers: February 2, 2015
Submission deadline for focus groups: April 27, 2015

After the initial submission, you have time to revise your paper and incorporate the feedback you received during the shepherding process. All accepted papers will be discussed in Writer’s Workshops during the conference.

Paper submissions should not exceed 10 pages in ACM large format (single column). If your paper is significantly longer than 10 pages or contains more than five patterns, please consider to split it up into several submissions. Papers with pattern languages may be longer than 10 pages, but writer’s workshops can only discuss parts of the larger work. We especially welcome papers that only contain one or two patterns.

We look forward to receiving your contributions!
