Call For Papers

Preliminary Call for Papers ISMM 2009
9th International Symposium on Mathematical Morphology

Groningen, The Netherlands
August 24-27, 2009

This symposium is the ninth in a series of international workshops
devoted to the area of mathematical morphology and its applications in
image and signal processing. The scientific program will include
invited talks, tutorials, contributed papers and poster presentations.
Participants will have the opportunity to be exposed to the most
recent developments in the field and meet colleagues from all around
the world. The full papers will be published in the conference
proceedings, extended abstracts for the posters in a separate abstract
book and online. Materials for the tutorials will be included in a
separate syllabus and online.

Venue: Founded in 1614, the University of Groningen is one of the
oldest research universities in Europe. One of the pioneers in the
field of calculus, Johann Bernoulli, accepted a position at the
University of Groningen in 1695, which he held until 1705. The
historical city of Groningen was founded 800 years ago at a strategic
place in the north of the Netherlands. Nowadays, with 175,000
inhabitants, it is the economicand cultural capital of the northern
partof the Netherlands. Groningen is easily accessible by train from
Amsterdam Schiphol airport, and by car from Bremen(180 km) and Hamburg
(300 km). The city boasts a large university hospital, several
theatres and museums, a great many of art galleries and bookshops, and
an excellent choice of markets, shops, and restaurants with food from
all over the world.
