The next wave of the evolution we foresee for Intelligent Transportation Systems comprises the convergence of mobile communications, cloud computing, and information systems technologies. Once this process completes, our roads will be our communications and transportation platforms.

This special issue is seeking for high quality original contributions, addressing the main research challenges in the field on vehicular networking and information systems, including the definition of the best structure for the information delivered, providing common platforms for information sensing and sharing, and also delivering algorithmic advances for smarter transportation systems.

Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):

- Information management services
- Cellular floating vehicle data
- Network and system architectures for mobile vehicular computing
- Ontologies for Intelligent Transportation Systems
- Content distribution in vehicular environments
- Knowledge data systems for Vehicular Communications
- Cloud based computing for Vehicular Networks
- Advanced services through Vehicular Communications
- Social Networks in vehicular environments
- Security, trust and privacy in Vehicular Communications
- Communication support for Cooperative sensing

Submission Format and Guideline

All submitted papers must be clearly written in excellent English and contain only original work, which has not been published by or is currently under review for any other journal or conference. A detailed submission guideline is available as “Guide to Authors” at
