41st IEEE Southeastern Symposium on System Theory (SSST 2009)
University of Tennessee Space Institute, Tullahoma TN. Mar 15-17, 2009 The 41st IEEE Southeastern Symposium on System Theory (SSST 2009) will be held in Tullahoma, TN on March 15-17, 2009. It will be hosted by the University of Tennessee Space Institute. The official website of SSST 2009 is: http://ssst.utsi.edu/ The symposium consists of invited and contributed technical papers on theoretical and applied issues associated with the architecture, modeling, simulation and analysis, control, operation and performance-evaluation of systems (as well as tools for system computations and education). Traditionally, papers presented at the SSST have focused on system-issues from fields such as: mathematical theory of systems and signals, control of electro-mechanical systems, communications, signal processing, navigation, guidance, robotics, energy and power, electronic devices, computers and networks, optics, aerospace, chemical processing, manufacturing, etc. However, papers on system-issues from other fields are also of interest. Special focus areas for this year’s conference are associated with the location for the conference, the University of Tennessee Space Institute (UTSI) which is located adjacent to the United States Air Force Arnold Engineering Development Center, the world’s largest center for ground testing of aerospace systems. The focus of UTSI is in the areas of aerospace propulsion, aviation systems, materials science and lasers. Therefore two special focus areas are being added to this year’s conference. One focus area will be Flight Systems including systems for aircraft, launch vehicles, spacecraft and planetary surface systems. The second focus area will be Ground and Flight Test of Aerospace Systems covering areas such as wind tunnel testing, propulsion cell testing, electromagnetic systems testing and instrumentation systems for ground and flight test. Tours of UTSI’s unique facilities for ground and flight testing which include wind tunnels, water tunnels, propulsion test stands and instrumented aircraft will be included in the program. The SSST encourages well-written, high-quality papers by graduate students based on Master’s thesis and Ph.D. dissertation results as well as papers by University faculty, researchers and government/industry personnel from throughout the US and abroad. Papers presented at the SSST appear in a Proceedings Volume (CD version), which is available at the time of the conference. Contributed Papers: Prospective authors are invited to submit extended abstracts or draft papers (3-5 pages) for review. Invited Sessions : Prospective organizers of an invited session should submit a summary of the proposal along with titles and authors of at least five papers. The invited papers should have a well-defined focus on a topic relevant to the conference. Submission period is from September 1 - October 31, 2008. Important Dates: Extended Abstract or Draft paper submission (3-5 pages) October 31, 2008 Invited session proposals October 31, 2008 Notification of acceptance January 7, 2009 Camera-ready originals & registration fees January 26, 2009 Reception March 15, 2009 Presentations March 16-17, 2009 |
