Call For Papers

Title:
“Handbook of Genetic Programming Applications”

Editors:
Amir H. Gandomi (The University of Akron, USA, e-mail: ag72@uakron.edu)
Amir H. Alavi (Michigan State University, USA, e-mail: alavi@msu.edu)
Conor Ryan (University of Limerick, Ireland, e-mail: conor.ryan@ul.ie)

Scope and Aims:
In the past two decades, artificial intelligence algorithms have proved to be promising tools for solving a multitude of tough scientific problems. Many of these stochastic search techniques do not suffer from some of the deficiencies of mathematical programming-based optimum design methods such as continuous objective function, stringent requirements of smoothness and gradients of the objective and constraint functions. Thus, global optimum (or suboptimal) design can be achievable with a finite number of search iterations. One of the most exciting of these methods is Genetic Programming (GP), inspired by natural evolution and the Darwinian concept of “Survival of the Fittest”. The use of GP has grown significantly in the last ten years in almost every area of science and engineering. This book strives to review the latest development of GP and its key applications in solving real world problems.

Topics of interest in the application domain include (but not limited to):

• Agricultural Sciences
• Biological Sciences
• Business Management & Accounting
• Chemistry
• Earth & Planetary Sciences
• Engineering & Technology
• Energy Conversion & Management
• Environmental Sciences
• Medical Sciences

Topics of interest in the computing domain include (but not limited to):

• Tree-based GP
• Graph-based GP
• Grammar-based GP
• Linear GP
• Grammatical Evolution
• Multi-expression programming
• Gene Expression Programming
• Cartesian GP
• Infix Form GP
• Multi-Population GP
• Multi-Objective GP
• Fast/Parallel GP
• Probabilistic GP
• Object-Oriented GP
• Hybridization of Algorithms

This book will serve as an excellent reference providing all the details required for a successful application of GP and its branches to challenging real-world problems. Therefore, the authors are encouraged to use publicly accessible data or to make the used data available.
