Dear Colleague,
We are pleased to invite you to submit your original papers to the 14th UK Workshop on Computational Intelligence which will take place at the University of Bradford, Bradford, UK on 8-10 September 2014.
UKCI is the premier UK and Ireland event for presenting leading research on all aspects of computational intelligence. The aim of this workshop is to provide a forum for the academic community and industry to share ideas about developing and using CI techniques and to exchange views and ideas. The workshop runs as a single-track event, and will consist of regular sessions, special sessions and keynote talks from leading researchers in the field of computational intelligence which include eminent research leaders Professor Peter Cowling (University of York), Professor Rob Procter (University of Warwick) and Professor Anthony Cohn (University of Leeds).
Invited Topics
Authors are invited to submit their original unpublished work in areas including, but not limited, to:
- Machine learning, learning systems, biologically-inspired computing, neural networks
- Fuzzy logic, fuzzy systems, approximate reasoning
- Evolutionary computing, swarm intelligence, artificial immune systems, memetic computing
- Software agents and Multi-agent systems
- Intelligent control, intelligent signal processing
- New and emerging computational intelligence approaches from hybrid learning and systems, molecular and quantum computing
- Applications of computational intelligence techniques in engineering, healthcare, finances, (cyber)security, big data.
Submission Procedure
Prospective authors are invited to submit papers of no more than eight (8) pages for long and no more than six (6) pages for short papers in IEEE conference format, including results, figures and references. Submission details can be found at: http://www.computing.brad.ac.uk/ukci2014/call_for_papers.php
All submissions will be peer-reviewed; accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings and indexed in IEEEXplore. Selected papers in substantial extended form will be considered to be published in a Special Issue of the Springer Soft Computing Journal (2012 Impact Factor 1.124).
Proceedings
The workshop will have two strands: full papers, for high-quality definitive results, and short papers for work-in-progress which can be presented as posters. All contributions will be peer-reviewed, and published and indexed in IEEEXplore.
Sponsors and Awards
UKCI 2014 is technically co-sponsored by the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) and the IEEE CIS UKRI chapter. An award for Best Student Paper will be conferred.
To encourage PhD students and young researchers in academia and industry, we have assigned lower fees for attending the event. Please email ukci2014@bradford.ac.uk for further details.
Special Sessions
We also invite you to submit proposals for Special Sessions within the UKCI single track programme, particularly in the areas of future directions for research and novel applications of Computational Intelligence research. All Special Sessions will focus on a particular domain of Computational Intelligence / Applications of Computational Intelligence Techniques: accepted papers will be presented within the relevant Special Session and published within UKCI Conference Proceedings.

Important Dates
Special Session proposals: 5th May 2014
Paper submission deadline: 31st May 2014
Notification of acceptance: 7th July 2014
Camera-ready submission: 4th August 2014
Springer Soft Computing Special Issue submission deadline – 1st December 2014
