Call For Papers | |||||||||
The recent growing expansion of the Brazilian oil and gas industry set the scene for an increasing need of a variety of ships and drilling rigs, including service vessels, to support the development of recently discovered offshore oil fields in deep and ultradeep waters. This has spurred a flurry of new shipyard construction while, at the same time, driving the revival of older shipyards that have been almost inactive during an industry downturn in recent past years. Such a challenging scenario provides a strong impetus for advancing the scientific and technological knowledge in the various fields related to naval architecture and ocean engineering including also civil, mechanical, electrical, material, petroleum, coastal and oceanographic engineering, applied oceanography and meteorology and applied mathematics.
Marine Systems & Ocean Technology international journal is SOBENA´s (The Brazilian Society of Marine Engineering) response for this need. It is accepting scientific and technological contributions for its upcoming issues on several related topics including, but not limited to • hydrodynamic, control and structural analysis of fixed and floating marine systems (including ships, advanced marine vehicles and dynamic positioning); • underwater technology (including submarines, robotics, design and operation of diving systems, surveys and maintenance systems, umbilical cables, pipelines and risers); • computational methods in naval architecture, offshore/ocean engineering, coastal engineering and related areas; • environmental studies associated with oil spills and leakage prevention and control, safety concepts and risk analysis applied to marine systems, wave-energy extracting devices and sea resources in general; • maritime economics, logistics and related areas; • ocean and inland navigation, marine engineering and environmental protection, offshore support bases, offshore logistics. Marine Systems & Ocean Technology is an editorial initiative jointly coordinated by SOBENA and CEENO (a Scientific Network involving two universities and the following research centers: COPPE/UFRJ, USP, IPT, CENPES). Marine Systems & Ocean Technology is currently changing its editorial policy to become an indexed quarterly Journal with international character and a strong peer review system. Prospective authors are requested to send their contributions to sobena@sobena.org.br Further information on the submission process and instruction for authors are found at www.sobena.org.br. |
