Call For Papers

The conference titled UNDERSTANDING THE CHANGING WORLD THROUGH ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN STUDIOS is organized by the Faculty of Architecture and Design and will be held during 10th -12th of April 2014 as a part of the2nd Maltepe University International Student Congress which takes place at Maltepe University, at Marmara Education Village, in Istanbul, Turkey.

In recent years, we experience and observe a rapid transformation process affecting all our lives, living environments and relationships. In line, architectural design studios are proposing alternative design approaches and processes to appropriately respond to this rapid transformation. Focusing on Understanding the Changing World Through Architectural Design Studios, the conference aims to create a platform for undergraduate students from different universities and countries to present their design approaches and that of their studio to discuss the alternative ways of design process.

We welcome submissions for papers that should be addressing one or several of the following topics, but not limited to these:

► The effects of social transformation on architectural design

► The effects of spatial transformation on architectural design

► The role of context / place on architectural design, i.e. design proposals for sites having different characteristics (urban areas, rural areas, suburban areas, historical sites, etc.)
