The conference titled UNDERSTANDING THE CHANGING WORLD THROUGH ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN STUDIOS is organized by the Faculty of Architecture and Design and will be held during 10th -12th of April 2014 as a part of the2nd Maltepe University International Student Congress which takes place at Maltepe University, at Marmara Education Village, in Istanbul, Turkey.
In recent years, we experience and observe a rapid transformation process affecting all our lives, living environments and relationships. In line, architectural design studios are proposing alternative design approaches and processes to appropriately respond to this rapid transformation. Focusing on Understanding the Changing World Through Architectural Design Studios, the conference aims to create a platform for undergraduate students from different universities and countries to present their design approaches and that of their studio to discuss the alternative ways of design process. We welcome submissions for papers that should be addressing one or several of the following topics, but not limited to these: ► The effects of social transformation on architectural design ► The effects of spatial transformation on architectural design ► The role of context / place on architectural design, i.e. design proposals for sites having different characteristics (urban areas, rural areas, suburban areas, historical sites, etc.) Abstracts should be submitted via e-mail to muiscarch@maltepe.edu.tr no later than 24th of February 2014 and contain a clear outline of theoretical framework, methodology and results. The text of the abstracts should be submitted in English as a MS-Word document with the following formatting: max. 500 words, 1.5 line spaced Arial (Plain) 11-point font (except for title which should be 14-point font), A4 size page formatting, with the page margins of 2.5 cm from the left, top and bottom and 2 cm from the right. |
