Call For Papers

The 16th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing (DSP2009), the longest in existence Conference in the area of DSP, organized in cooperation with the IEEE1 , IET1 and EURASIP1, will be held in July 5-7, 2009 on the island of Santorini, Greece. It belongs to a series of events, which commenced at London in 1968 and continued in Florence, Nicosia, Lemessos, Santorini and Cardiff. The last successful meeting took place in Cardiff, UK in July 2007.

The successful concept of the earlier events will be followed again. Namely, a significant number of Special Sessions organised by internationally recognised experts in the areas, will be held. The role of the Session Organiser is of vital significance in the sense that she or he will be entirely responsible for the invitation of the speakers, for the quality of the contributions and the general theme that the session will take. Each of these Special Sessions will resemble a mini-Symposium and the Session Organiser will be the Symposiarch. In addition to the Special Sessions, the program will include presentations of novel research theories / applications / results in lecture, poster and plenary sessions by eminent scientists.

DSP2009 addresses the theory and application of filtering, coding, transmitting, estimating, detecting, analyzing, recognizing, synthesizing, recording, and reproducing signals by means of digital devices or techniques. The term "signal" includes audio, video, speech, image, communication, geophysical, sonar, radar, medical, musical, and other signals.

Indicative Special Sessions
- DSP in Biomedical Systems (Sensors and Signal Processing;
Compression to Medical Standards; Aids for the Impaired)
- DSP in Biometrics and Activity Recognition
- DSP in Communications (Space-Time Communications;
Adaptive Algorithms; 4G; Future Systems)
- DSP in Consumer Products (Mobile Receivers; S/W Radio;
Digital Cameras; Audio; Audio/Image/Video Compression)

Authors are invited to electronically submit the full camera-ready paper. The paper must not exceed 6 pages, including figures, tables and references, and should be written in English. Faxed submissions are not acceptable. Papers should follow the double-column IEEE format (link). Authors should indicate one or more of the above listed categories that best describe the topic of the paper, as well as their preference (if any) regarding lecture or poster sessions. Lecture and poster sessions will be treated equally in terms of the review process. The program committee will make every effort to satisfy these preferences. Submitted papers will be reviewed by two referees and all accepted papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings (CD ROM) and will be available in IEEExplore digital library. In addition to the technical program, a great social program will be offered to the participants and their companions. It will be a unique opportunity to meet colleagues and friends, while enjoying the beautiful summer weather of the Aegean Archipelagos.
