During the last few decades the world has witnessed a rapid urbanization process, which has become a worldwide phenomenon. It is expected that the urbanization rate will keep on growing at an unprecedented rate, particularly in developing countries in the coming years. During the process of global urbanization, the concept "Smart City" was coined to refer to the process by which a city acquires changes sufficient to best meet its needs. Smart city can be defined as a city which has certain smart ability to deal with a city’s problems and provides citizens with a better living environment through intelligently accumulation and analysis of different kinds of data from the city’s routine operation based on advanced information technologies. Traditional data organization processes cannot satisfy the requirements of a smart city. Gathering data is becoming easier whereas finding an effective way to store, manage, and analyze the data has become a more important challenge.
Utilizing data from heterogeneous sources to support intelligent services for citizens, government and enterprises need to address several important issues, including (1) data sensing: how to obtain the diverse data in the scale of a city operation; how to effectively and efficiently extract entities from unstructured data; (2) data vitalization: how to connect data by identifying hidden relationships between data, how to from the giant knowledge base to facilitate better information seeking and provide high quality service; (3) event driven service: how users’ personalized request in an event which normally integrated several domain smartness can be met by data oriented service, how users’ behaviors can be discovered from heterogeneous data sources, what are the fundamental structures underlying the service provision. The workshop will provide a forum for researchers to showcase their efforts. Provision of intelligent service for users based on fully analyzing heterogeneous and unstructured data will foster a cross-disciplinary forum to further enhance existing bounds and create new connections among these communities. This workshop solicits contributions on researches and practices of data oriented solutions for smartness request in a smart city. --Scope The workshop will provide a forum for researchers and practioners from all over the world to share information on their latest investigations. The broader context of the workshop can be related in some respects to the all areas of a city for government, enterprises and citizens by using technologies including data mining, artificial intelligence, information retrieval, social networks analysis, semantic web, and Natural Language Processing and etc. Topics of interest include but are not limited to: *Smart systems Internet of Thing and Sensors Data transmission Middleware and platforms Intelligent service *Data vitalization Data entity identification Semantic integration on entities Data entity relationship recognition Information search over heterogeneous data sources Pattern-analysis methods Mining with domain knowledge; Personalized knowledge graph --Important Date Submission deadline: January 31, 2014 Notification date: Feburary 28, 2014 Camera-ready: March 10, 2014 --Submission Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished research papers that must not be published elsewhere and not currently under review for any other publication. The manuscripts in English must be submitted in the provided format in PDF and may not exceed 8 pages in 2-column IEEE format including all figures, tables and references. All papers will be submitted to the conference through the EasyChair system at https://www.easychair.org/account/signin.cgi?conf=dvuv2014 --Publication All accepted papers will be published in CCGrid2014 Conference Proceedings by IEEE CS Press (indexed by EI). Distinguish papers after further extensions will be published in one special issues of SCI indexed journal. |
