**************************************************************************************************** Final Call for Papers (extended deadline) Advances in Complex Systems: Modelling and Parallel Implementation Workshop (ACSModPar) within the 14th International Conference on Computational Science and Its Applications (ICCSA 2014) June 30-July 3, 2014, Guimaraes, Portugal. **** Extended Deadline: February 28, 2014 **** **************************************************************************************************** The ACSModPar workshop (http://www.acsmodpar.org) will be held within the 2014 International Conference on Computational Science and its Applications (ICCSA 2014) on June 30 - July 3 2014, University of Minho, Guimaraes, Portugal (http://www.iccsa.org/). ===== AIMS AND SCOPE ===== The workshop aims to bring together computer scientists, modellers, and experts to present significant applications, new approaches, cutting edge techniques and results and to discuss research challenges related to the use of HPC to support the modelling and simulation of complex systems. ===== TOPICS ===== The topics of the ACSModPar workshop include but are not limited to: - High-performance computing in complex systems modelling and simulation; - MPI, OpenMP, GPGPU implementation and benchmarking of complex systems models; - Parallel and distributed implementations of: -- models based on multi-agent systems and cellular automata; -- simulation-driven optimizations through metaheuristics; -- complex systems simulations based on the dynamic data-driven approach; -- simulation-based decision support tool for complex systems; - Tools based on complex systems models and HPC in the field of urgent computing; - Hardware approaches to HPC in modelling and simulation of complex systems - Applications to physics, chemistry, biology, geology, engineering, medicine, ecology, economics and social science; ===== PROCEEDINGS ===== Submitted papers will be subject to peer review and carefully evaluated based on originality, significance, technical soundness, and clarity of exposition. Accepted papers will appear in the ICCSA conference proceedings to be published by Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) (edited by Springer). Each participant will receive the electronic copy of all the proceeding volumes on a USB key. For a selected number of top quality papers, after the Conference, the authors will be requested to extend the paper in order to be published as special issues in appropriate ISI international journals. ===== PAPER PREPARATION ===== The submitted paper must be camera-ready and formatted according to the rules of LNCS (a maximum number of 16 pages is allowed). For formatting information, see the publisher's web site. Submission implies the willingness of at least one of the authors to register and present the paper. For details about the authors' registration see the ICCSA registration page (http://www.iccsa.org/). Each paper must deal with original and unpublished work, not submitted for publication elsewhere. ===== SUBMISSION ===== Papers must be submitted through the ICCSA submission system. Please, during the submission process, don't forget to select "Advances in Complex systems: Modelling and Parallel Implementation - ACSModPar" workshop from the drop-down list of all workshops. For more details see the authors'information on the ICCSA website (http://www.iccsa.org/authors-instructions) ===== IMPORTANT DATES ===== February 28, 2014: Extended deadline for paper submission April 10, 2014: Notification of acceptance and early-bird registration starts. May 6, 2014: Early-bird Registration ends. May 6, 2014: Submission deadline for the final version of the Papers June 30 - July 3, 2014: ACSModPar workshop ===== ORGANIZERS ===== - Georgios Sirakoulis, Democritus University of Thrace, Greece - William Spataro, University of Calabria, Italy - Giuseppe A.
