Second European Workshop on Latent Semantic Analysis in Technology-Enhanced Learning

Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA) has been successfully deployed in various educational applications to enrich learning and teaching with information-technology. The primary goal of the workshop is to bring together experts in the field in order to share knowledge gained within the distributed research about latent semantic analysis in educational applications (either from the context of the IST projects Cooper, iCamp, TenCompetence, Cooper and ProLearn, or from computer/cognitive scientists involved in LSA-based research). The topics of this workshop relate on the educational technology applications of LSA (e.g., Automated Essay Scoring) and the methodological issues raised by this technique (e.g., corpus composition). The second edition of this workshop, two years after the first one held at Heerlen (OUNL), has the aim to continue the coverage of these topics, with a new emphasis on cognitive simulation. This second edition emerges from the joint effort of the participants of the european project LTfLL (Learning Technologies for LifeLong Learning).

* Protocol analysis, Knowledge gap analysis, Task analysis

* Methodological issues for LSA in Educational Technology, such as:
* Corpus composition & preparation (sanitising, filtering, selection, seeding, domain modelling, ...)
* Optimisation of analysis and queries
* Statistical properties
* Combining LSA with other techniques
* Evaluation and Validation of LSA

* Cognitive Modelling using LSA, such as:
* Knowledge acquisition
* Language acquisition and development
* Measure of semantic relatedness
* Cognitive architectures
* Activity modelling
* Cognitive corpora

*Official language for both papers and talks: English. Submissions are expected in the following two formats. They should describe substantial and unpublished work.

* Full Papers: Papers should be maximum 6 pages in length (about 4,000 words), using an IEEE stylesheet. PDF, MS-Word are accepted. PDF is preferred for submisssion.
* Posters: For reviewing purposes, posters are submitted as short papers (2 pages-long, up to 1,500 word-long) using the same stylesheet than full papers. After acceptance, authors will have to design a poster for presenting the content of their research.
