A Special Issue of EURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking (EURASIP JWCN) on "Green Wireless Communications: Theory and Practice"

The objective of this special issue is to present a collection of high-quality research papers that report the latest research advances in the area of green wireless communications and networks, which mainly includes the intelligent control, or efficient management, or optimal design of access network infrastructures, home networks, terminal equipment, and etc.

Communications industry is not only a high-tech one, but also a high-energy-consuming one. With the continuous expansion of networks scale, the numbers of core device, power system, engine room and base station are increasing greatly, which lead to energy consumption seriously. Thus, green wireless communications with the aiming of energy costs and CO2 emissions’ reducing, and environment protecting, has become a potential research focus for all the next-generation communications’ and networks’ designers. In this special issue, we seek original work on identifying new research and development challenges and developing new techniques and algorithms in green wireless
communications and networks.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
• The energy-efficient wireless network architecture design
• The energy-efficient protocol design
• The optimal planning of energy-efficient network topology
• The energy-efficient handover in heterogeneous networks
• Low-power circuit board design
• PA-power intelligent control
• Power efficient RFID, sensor communications
• The efficient management of terminal equipment
• Measurement, metrics and profiling of energy consumption in communications
• Test-bed and Prototype Implementation
• Others and emerging new topics
